ROME, N.Y. – A convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday after allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl at a home in Rome on May 17.
The sexual abuse allegation was reported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Child Advocacy Center on Thursday. Following an investigation, 45-year-old Steven Johnson was arrested at his residence and charged with first-degree rape.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Oneida County jail without bail.
An order of protection has been issued on the victim’s behalf, and she has been offered services through the Child Advocacy Center.
