Terry Thelwell of North Ryde asks: “How come man’s ingenuity can put the Rover vehicle on Mars and yet we can’t invent a device that can toast bread on both sides in one go? And don’t get me started on those conveyor belt type toasters in hotel dining rooms where it needs numerous trips into the abyss. The first two times it eventually reappears looking like it’s been slightly tinged with a lit match and the third time it looks like it spent a long weekend at Chernobyl. Come on Mr Musk, get the boffins on to this herculean task.”
