It planned to speak at the Lion Harbourview Lounge in the Michael Fowler Centre on July 15 and recently had its booking confirmed by WellingtonNZ, which runs the city’s public venues.
The group’s campaign and upcoming event has raised concerns among Wellington City councillors and nationwide transgender support and advocacy group, Gender Minorities Aotearoa.
After finding out about the venue confirmation, councillor Fleur Fitzsimons wrote to Wellington NZ’s chief executive, John Allen, asking him to refuse the group’s booking.
