DECATUR, Ga. — Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown was among four sheriffs and a groundbreaking Georgia General Assembly secretary that U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Lithonia, recognized with Pioneer Awards for their service to Georgia’s 4th Congressional District — and their work to break down barriers and make history in the state — in honor of Black History Month.
