Local Government and Assistant Housing Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih urged the community to be respectful of different cultures and religions and avoid hostility that would bring unrest to the State.
“We must respect each other to ensure peace and to make Sabah exemplary when it comes to unity among various ethnic groups in the State,” he said.
He added that there are more than 33 ethnic groups with various religions in Sabah, therefore it was important for people not to insult each other to avoid any misunderstanding.
“It is more harmful if that happens and if it happens then it will be difficult for the security forces to calm down and of course the country will be in chaos,”
He said in his speech delivered by Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Beaufort Chairman Datuk Kimjus Duim, during the slaughter of buffaloes which were a form of compensation (sogit) paid by lawyer Marcel Jude Joseph, at Kg Melalugus, here.
In 2021, Marcel was fined seven buffaloes by the Penampang Native Court for his offensive remarks against the Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) community in court, in which he likened the Unduk Ngadau cultural pageant to an “exotic cattle show”
