STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For Police Officers Michael Guglielmo and Brian Babiak, a cleanup of Port Richmond’s Veterans Park Friday afternoon was an opportunity to come together with the community they patrol every day.
“It’s a shared responsibility for the community members and the Police Department to work together to make an area a better place,” he said. “That’s the whole point of this — just working together as one, collaborating as one.”
Babiak and Guglielmo organized the cleanup as a local 121st Precinct pilot of the NYPD’s “community solutions” initiative.
