COMMUNITY members are coming together to raise funds after a tragic incident left a family of geese dead.
The fundraiser is aiming to raise £750 to 'help raise money for increased signage and security of the wildfowl on Ormsgill Reservoir'. In less than a day, the fundraiser had reached £247 towards the cause.
It came after a number of geese were run over on Wednesday night as they crossed Wilkie Road, near Barrow AFC's ground, with several dying as a result.
The fundraiser's creator, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "It's about the fourth year this has happened, and I was unfortunate enough to witness the one about four years ago. If you see it, it is absolutely horrific. You've got babies who are either squished and the adults sat by them, or adults looking for babies. It will never leave you."
