Tiny homes began appearing in Greenville County about four years ago.
The county's proposed rules would exclude recreational vehicles, campers and other structures not meant to serve as permanent dwellings from tiny-home communities.
"That's really important because a lot of the proposals that we've been receiving are basically RV parks but they're marketed as tiny homes," Jeffers-Campbell said.
Another important change, she said, is that the county Planning Commission would be required to give final approval to tiny-home communities. Residents would have a chance to give their views to the commission before the projects can proceed.
"A lot of residents and citizens had a lot of anxiety about these types of developments," Jeffers-Campbell said.
