RAPID CITY, S.D. — Dinosaur Hill in Rapid City is on its way to getting a $2.5 million facelift.
The Common Council gave the go-ahead Tuesday night to hiring a design consultant to help upgrade pedestrian routes and installing enhanced safety features.
A landscape designer with City Parks and Rec says the improvements are long overdue.
“Accessibility wasn’t a huge concern in 1936 probably should have been of course,” said Melissa Petersen, landscape designer, RC Parks and Recreation, “It’s been federal law since 1990 that we have to try to accommodate everyone. You know everyone with mobility limitations, different physical disabilities, mental disabilities.”
