Purchased last year for nearly $3 million and situated in the heart of Brookline Village, 370 Washington St. seems prime fodder for a developer looking to turn a profit. 
But the building's owners are in no rush, planning to raze the building and leave a grass lot as a placeholder. 
They're facing some challenges. Unhappy neighbors claim the Italianate Victorian is integral to neighborhood and want it preserved. The Planning Board, after hearing the owners' plans, has recommended against granting a permit. 
Soon, the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals will decide the building’s fate.
