Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year seeks entries
March 2, 2021
The 2021 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is now open for entries – the title is pretty self explanatory. As well as raising lots of chuckles with images of gurning fish and photobombing giraffes, the competition has a serious purpose, supporting a variety of wildlife-related charities.
This year for example, the founders will be supporting the Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Program, which aims to protect both the species and the rainforests of Borneo where these amazing but sadly endangered creatures live.
Smiley the Parrotfish was also Highly Commended last year
The competition, which opened on 1 March, was co-founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, both professional photographers, who wanted to create a popular contest that focused on the lighter side of wildlife. It is free to enter, with a closing date of 30 June 2021. The top shot this year will win a Maasai Mara safari in Kenya with Alex Walker’s Serian, plus a unique, handmade trophy.
