Columbus City Schools is surveying parents about their transportation needs amid a nationwide bus driver shortage.
The district has a lot of routes to cover, and maybe, not enough bus drivers to go around.
So Columbus City Schools spokeswoman Jacqueline Bryant said they are sending out the survey to parents via email.
“To see who might want to opt out of transportation to free up a seat for a student who needs it due to the shortage of bus drivers that is affecting schools nationwide,” she said.
The district's transportation department is still figuring out its plans, which could also include providing COTA bus passes to high school students, Bryant said.
