Columbus economy: Workers not returning downtown quickly

Conte and other Downtown boosters hope that figure jumps up when schools resume in the fall, freeing many at-home workers from child care, but the survey found that only 68% of Downtown's workers are expected to be back by the end of the year.  
"I thought the numbers for both the summer and fall would be higher," Conte said. " I think after Labor Day, that’s when we’ll really see what happens."
Conte cautioned that the survey results are based on responses from 77 out of 415 employers, or less than 20%. He also noted many of the surveys were completed before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state relaxed COVID restrictions.
