Scarlet Macaws | Photo: Special Arrangement
The scarlet macaws are visually and emotionally overwhelming. When they soar the sky, they are indebted to the iconic figure - Lloyd Davidson who embarked upon a success story of global attention marking the rebirth of macaws.
Once mercilessly hunted and sold as pets for a flourishing smuggling racket with its tentacles in Europe and elsewhere, the macaws are now protected with people’s participation making it a glittering chapter of great dimensions in the conservation efforts. The project has attained global stature.
The macaw mountain in Honduras in central America is a pilgrim center for nature enthusiasts and conservationists. When you go there you are fully convinced of the incessant struggles undertaken by Lloyd Davidson, an American settled in Honduras, for the protection and conservation of the macaws. He started the project to give a new lease of life to the macaws that were confiscated and injured when poachers loomed large.
