Colonial Pipeline shutdown lead to gas lines, shortages in Wilmington

Lines for gas and so-called "panic purchasing" were prime subjects on social media, where some compared the situation to the hoarding of items like toilet paper during the height of the pandemic last year.
The city of Wilmington's official Facebook page said to "expect delays and congestion along major roadways near gas stations area-wide. Several lanes are blocked and congestion is growing.⁣"
"Areas to avoid," the post said, include South Front Street ⁣and River Road near the State Port.
The city of Wilmington's official Twitter account retweeted a post from Wilmington NC Traffic about 11 a.m., saying, "Heads Up S. Front St. Drivers! Queuing Tank Trucks will cause congestion and delays for the near future. Avoid the area if you can."
