Colin May, M.S., CFE, 3CE, INCI is the Assistant Director of Strategy and Training for the HUD OIG Office of Investigation where he is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and assessment of training to nearly 200 special agents, forensic auditors, investigative analysts, and professional staff across the country. In addition, he oversees and manages the performance review process, the after-action review/lessons learned process, and strategy development for the Office. A career investigator, he has worked at the U.S. Departments of Defense, Commerce, and Justice. He has received awards for his investigative work from the Director of National Intelligence, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, two Bronze Medals and the Gold Medal from the Secretary of Commerce. He has been on the faculty of the National Cryptologic University, DOJ’s National Advocacy Center, and Stevenson University. In addition to teaching at each agency, he has been a guest speaker at several universities as well as at the Global Fraud Conference. Colin’s education includes a B.S. from Siena College, a M.S. from Stevenson University, and graduate certificates from Northeastern University (forensic accounting), the University of Southern Maine (leadership studies), and Purdue University (strategic communications). A frequent writer and speaker, Colin’s articles have appeared in the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Security Management, Police Chief Magazine, Fraud Magazine, Training and Standards Director Magazine, and the Journal of Public Inquiry. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Cyber Crime Examiner, and a National Certified Instructor from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST).
