Colerain Assistant Fire Chief Grant Burns is retiring from the Colerain Township Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services Friday. Chief Burns is retiring after 30 years of service in the department. In his most recent position as the chief of operations, Chief Burns oversaw the response of over 10,500 emergency calls a year for fire, rescue, special operations and emergency medical services.Chief Burns has received several awards for his actions at emergency scenes. He was recently named the 2020 State of Ohio Fire Officer of the Year jointly by the Ohio Fire Marshal's Office and the Ohio Divison of EMS. The department says Chief Burns' expertise, especially in special operations, is recognized throughout the tri-state.
