A Code Blue has been issued for the City of Albany, to make sure no one is left without a warm place to stay this weekend.
NewsChannel 13 spoke with HATAS, the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society, to see how they are helping the homeless population during the Code Blue and on a daily basis.
The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society works with a long list of local partners, including the Albany police and fire departments, to ensure that homeless people have a place to go and are not exposed to the elements.
They also rely on the public’s help, especially when a Code Blue is issued. If you see a homeless person that needs help this weekend, call the HATAS Homeless Hotline at 518-463-2124. An outreach van will be deployed to the individual’s location to provide them with help.
