Coast Guard rescues flight instructor and student pilot after their plane crashes in ocean off Hawaii
Theresa Braine
A flight instructor and his student were rescued Saturday by the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies after their plane went down in the ocean off Hawaii.
The DA40 Diamond Star aircraft plummeted into the sea 8 miles off Lanai, the coast guard said in a statement.
The two were rescued by an Air Station Barbers Point MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew within an hour after they crashed, the coast guard said, and brought them to emergency services at the air station. Their injuries were non-life-threatening, the coast guard told KHNL-TV.
