Theyre going to say whatever theyre going to say to get to get elected not voters like that one, but, but other voters who are more persuaded by this argument, listen, its not only republicans here wisconsin that they are trying to reach over the next four days. The campaign has events in battleGround States across the country. Theyre also investing in this up on the airwaves but listen, not all democrats think that this is the right strategy. Some democrats, i speak to say they think the campaign instead should be investing in the base of the party, speaking to black voters, asian voters, latino voters, and stop trying to chase these republicans it is notable though this strategy, because the former President Isnt employing something similar. Yes he has former democrats out for him stumping on the Campaign Trail, but there isnt formally organized democrats for trump equivalent, for instance and so that just gives you a sense of how much they are prioritizing this. Jeff first, lets talk about the Kamala Harris event where shes appearing in of all places, the birthplace of the republican party with Liz Cheney the orchestration of that is really something the messaging is clear. The question will be, does it make the the difference . But it also happens to be in battleground wisconsin. So its a twofer, if you will, and symbolism, but also perhaps in a strategic votes that is a Red County not far from milwaukee in southern wisconsin. Look, it is not likely to make a big difference among republicans, but among independents it could, there is a new Marquette Law School survey out today that shows that in wisconsin, harris has a pretty subsidized Sibyl Edge over trump on independence, about 20 points or so. They are trying to expand that a little bit more among hardcore republicans. Liz cheney is Persona Non Grata to put it gently but i think among others not just never trumpers, but some independence and people have questions about trump. I think of course it is a good place to have a speech. Is it going to move the needle a ton . No, theres nothing that moves the needle a ton, but i think in terms of symbolism im fascinated to watch Liz Cheney introducing Kamala Harris 2024. I mean, talk about every line is divided of every Case Campaign that weve covered, who thought we would wind up here, right . Gloria yeah. Not everyone is thrilled with this idea. Even mentioned this sort of tension among some democrats and we actually have a democratic state representative rule, roman from the Ground State of georgia who tweeted this out about the cheney Harris Event it feels like the campaign is still trying to run a Biden Campaign and its doing harris a massive disservice all repeat republicans are not going to save us touting their endorsements is turning people off. Do you think the harris campaigns time is better spent going after . Hispanic voters, black voters, folks that are more traditionally in their cameras supposed to recover. You can walk and chew gum at the same time. And i think thats what theyre trying to do. And by the way, where is the base of the party going to go to Donald Trump . I dont think so so i understand the complaint from a progressive but she is going after these independent voters, wisconsin is tight and shes ahead with independent voters and she wants to capitalize on that. And this kind of a display would appeal to independent voters who may want to see more bipartisanship so while i understand the complainant that progressives i dont think they have much of a choice. There. Both tickets are making a play for these independent voters. Thats clear, thats where they think its out. We spoke with the former Lieutenant Governor for georgia republican, Geoff Duncan here in the last hour and i asked him what he thought of Jd Vance on the Debate Stage, trying to show this maybe new phase of the republican party if it didnt the Trump League less bombast. And heres what he said it was really refreshing, right . Ive been critical, Jd Vance, on some of the rhetoric ive heard early on in the Cat Thing and all that stuff was going on, but he did a really good job in that debate of really projecting what the republican party should be. The problem that hes got Jd Vances god is these married to the Maga Mob . And hes going to have to act the way Donald Trump wants in the act so he finished by saying, we all know what happened to Mike Pence on january 6. I wonder what you think about that. Well, look, i think vance did do a good job during the debate. Theres No Doubt about it, except for the last few minutes of the debate where he wouldnt say that that Donald Trump had lost the election. And walz pointed out the only reason he was standing on the Debate Stage was because trumps former more Vice President wasnt there with him so, you know, i think that this is something people know, but to remind them of that, Which Walz did was a good thing. And i think, you know, vance has trouble with this issue because you know, he wasnt you know, to be a true election denier, you have to say that that the trump won the election. And i think on a radio show today, he may have kind of said that, but its difficult, you know, he had to walk a very difficult line in order not to get Donald Trump upset. And there were, by the way, lots of conservatives, Geoff Duncan may have thought he did a great job. But there are lots of conservative republicans who thought he didnt do a good job. Who thought that he wasnt standing up for maga principles and wasnt conservative enough look, i think at the end of the day, it felt to me it was a very pretrump Era Debate as civil conversation, but the challenges it is still very much the Trump Era so despite the softening of the edges, the policies are still the same its thursday, the debates, almost 48 hours old. I think and its probably among the last time well talk about it. Its not going to change things. All that much but walz did not have a strong night. We know that and he will you know trying to improve from here, well see vance was good, No Doubt about it. And so to those people in wisconsin that didnt make it, i think they love us and i think theyre going to vote by the way, were up at all of the polls were up in every they had a honeymoon. There essentially attacking his democratic rival, saying a number of false ill say that we will fact check starting with his description of haitian migrants in springfield, ohio, he was off on those numbers. There are roughly 15 to 20,000 haitian migrants that have temporary protective status that moved into springfield, a population of roughly 60,000 the president , theyre changing the numbers dramatically, altering them nearly two double those numbers. He previously had vowed that if hes elected, he would revoke. Their temporary status and deport them back to haiti trump also appeared to lend his support to israel, destroying irans nuclear facilities this is in light of Irans Attack on israel earlier in the week, they use of ballistic missiles to go after israel President Biden was asked whether israel should target iranian nuclear facilities in response. And trump there mocked biden for saying that essentially arguing that that should still be on the table. The former president also made a false remarks about his stance and previous statements on social Security And Medicare, as well as arguing falsely that the White House has restricted his ability to hold rallies and larger venue yeah, thats right. He said that the White House did not give proper security to coverage for him which is not true, but we know that he is certainly sensitive to Crowd Numbers in any appearance that they may have shrunk. Certainly because of Security Considerations which lets be clear, he does have Security Considerations. We know that, but certainly its not something he wants lets to deal with. He also talked, of course, about the 2020 election. He said that the vote needs to be too big to rig because he won in 2020, which he did it. But he said 2020 was rigged, which it wasnt any. He said if he thought he lost, you wouldnt be doing it again while we know that he has admitted that he has lost one of the issues though, is that when he recently said something about but that he lost by a whisker, it was met with a lot of rejection by some of his followers on the right, this is something that really energizes them. And they did not want that to be something that he would it all move away from. So hes making it very clear to them that hes kinda going back to where he was on this. We have Jeff Zeleny tracking all of this with as there was a focus there on social Security And Medicare and trump made the case that Kamala Harris would gut social Security And Medicare partly through immigration policy, but trump in the past, as recently as march in a Cnbc Interview talked about making Changes Entitlement Reform potentially cutting entitlements now hes saying he would protect social Security And Medicare. A lot of promises being made by the former president. A lot of promises and theres no specific evidence or no, this is not been part of the Vice President s plan to change Social Security her view has been similar with President Bidens too protect Social Security, much to the consternation from both sides of the reality of Entitlement Spending here theres really not been a conversation by any president ial candidate really in years about the wisdom of for the longevity of these programs that said what he was saying there a month before the election is not true. The Crowd Sizes, so interesting, there was No Doubt Donald Trump can draw very large crowds. He seems to be sensitive to some of the sizes of these crowds when theyre not in giant stadiums. But the reality is Hes Campaigning so often in so many states in the middle of the day supporters a, have jobs and things to do and be. There are some concerns strengths in terms of what local Law Enforcement and a federal Law Enforcement can do at these big rally. So hes having somewhat smaller rallies, but theres still certainly respectable in size. I was at one in erie, pennsylvania on sunday afternoon, one of the smaller trump rallies ive been to, but certainly a couple of thousand people there. So i think the Crowd Size is something that is still one of the nagging things to him. But look, we can stipulate to the fact that he can draw a crowd. He had a hard time with numbers going both ways today, as boris mentioned on the springfield issue i mean, as you outlined it its not a good situation in terms of the point hes trying to make. Hes trying to say there has been a big influx of immigrants, any speaking to his audience and saying you wouldnt like that, would you . His audience wholeheartedly agrees with him . The numbers are bad enough from his perspective, right . Why lie . Why boost . The number of immigrants and reduce the population to make the Ratio Look so out of whack, dont Add Logic into this country were so sorry. That would be one of the things. Look, i mean immigration is something that is the Red Meat for any crowd that he speaks to. And then we have this northern, this Ground Incursion from the north of israel into, into the south.
