That is propublica for that very hospital, it took more than 20 hours to begin truly treating her and performing a surgery to try to get that toxic tissue out of her body has has anyone given an explanation for why it took 20 hours . No. We havent gotten any explanation. And its very sad that were just finding out how she really passed before my sister went into surgery. She was passing out at the hospital. She hit her head. She had all bruises and youre not i mean, all over her face . And before she went into surgery, she literally stared at me for about seven seconds and i stared at her. And i think that my sister knew that she wasnt going to make it out of surgery. She knew that was going to be the last time that we were ever able to see her. That i will ever be able to see her again. And that faith, that stair, it hunts me every day. So know that my sister was in so much pain for so long for you to see that and to see her face and im im im the youngest sister of three girls and looking at you all reminds me of my own family and trying to imagine what that would have been like to be on a facetime, to be in her presence, to be where i would think i would be safe and she could get help. I mean, andrivka, this is agonizing. I know for your family and to know not only is it agonizing privately. But here, this is amber story. Your families now journey front and center. And now a presentation what is your reality been like in these moments . You know, ever since we found out, im having a hard time understanding how they could let my sister suffer for 20 hours. My sister was in pay the entire 20 hours she was in pain as she was still updating us, letting us know what was going on, what shes doing. Those are my last images and it haunts me when i close my eyes. It haunts me as im driving my car. It huntsman it just haunts me. That was my little sister my mom mom. And the fact that i was actually with her on August The 19th and i released her we were in the elevator 1 59 p. M. She was giving me instructions about the pain. I shut down 24 months in a dark room because the only thing i felt was what more could i have done what could i what did i miss . What did i miss . Im her mom. I was supposed to know what i handed her own with that to yourself. I mean, i you Cant Blame yourself. Many of this conversations are all foreseeable about the risk of what it would mean to have an Abortion Ban. And politicians are very aware of this, sabrina, when you hear stories like this contextualize for us politically what, how this is playing out. Well, first and foremost, i think Amber Thurmans death really lays bare the consequences of these incredibly restrictive Abortion Laws that we have seen proliferate across the country since the reversal of Roe V. Wade, right . Weve heard many stories of women being turned away from Emergency Rooms or being denied lifesaving care in hospitals because doctors are struggling to interpret these laws. And i think its not surprising that the more people hear about the impact of these laws especially on women, the more salient of an issue this becomes for voters and for the american electorate its not just an issue for women. Ive talked to many moderate and suburban voters who that also include men who think about what if this was my daughter, what if this is my wife or what if this was my sister so i think its part of why youve seen in the 2022 midterms and potentially now in the upcoming november election, abortion continuously ranking in the top three issues for voters at the polls. Thats why its kind of odd. Thank you. That will men and women and how much of an issue this is. You have the Senate Candidate, Bernie Moreno saying that womens focused on abortion as if its a singular issue is a little bit crazy. His aim and that its not an issue really for women over 50. My love, this isnt a good issue for republicans. We have two years worth of electoral data that suggests that we just dont do well on this issue. I dont think most voters want the government to utilize compulsory force to dictate what they can or cannot do with their bodies. Im a conservative. I have very disparate views on this particular issue. Particular issue, but im very, very cautious about utilizing government to be restrictive in this form what they said the recent Cnn Poll that came out had some interesting data. Trump is ahead of Vice President harris about four or five points with white women in particular, i thought that was fascinating also in terms of who do you believe support issues at best align with your view . Whos Donald Trump is ahead of the Vice President on that front as well. So this suggest some very interesting strength for the former president if he can stick to other issues such as the economy and immigration and stay away from the reproductive issues. Thats fine. Those polls theres something im going to go back to this interview. I thought it was an excellent interview. I think the story needs to be told as an ad maker, as somebody but who tries to get voters to believe stories. Theres nothing better than that, and i dont mean that for like, oh, my god, we can get a political win out of this horrific story. Its emotion, its real when you were talking to those women, you can see your emotion of interviewing them. Thats what real people will see because its a real issue when you talk to those men out there because theyre thinking about their daughters, theyre thinking about their mom as theyre thinking about women in their lap who lost something. And in every one of these races, there is some khan former fashion of an ad being run mainly by democrats using the issue again, because its worked, because its emotional. You dont say that if you want to get the womans vote, like they can see through that every day and twice on sunday. Well, what about the idea of a filibuster being used . I mean, thats thats pretty significant. You hear you dont hear Center Infection were saying anything about this moment in time. But this is a view that harris has had for quite some time, but now were in an election year. And of course, Cinema And Manchin do not support this notion. Theyre also not running for reelection again, sabrina as you pointed out, when you saw with Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema as they opposed Filibuster Rules change for Voting Rights and i do think that its more of a debate that happens here in washington where republicans will say, well, be careful, because right now whats your issue . But then if republicans are in the majority of republican president and they might try and leverage the filibuster for their own priorities. But i think the reality is there is a lot of frustration with american voters that there are a lot of initiatives, including access to abortion, that the majority of the public supports. And theyre tired of hearing that it cant get past a 60 Vote Threshold in the senate, thats not good enough for them. Youve seen that on issues like gun violence, you see it on issues like abortion access. In fact, with a lot of these issues, when you put them on the ballot at the state level, even in conservative states, youve seen voters take steps to protect abortion access. So i think that there could be a lot of debate over filibuster here. I dont actually know how many voters truly care about the rules and the kind of wonky. Yeah. I mean it is, but senator tester, who is in a very tight battle, hes probably going to lose that senate seat. He came out today and said, look, he doesnt support this. I think there are some moderate democrats in the senate who would be a bit concerned about this to run an a tight races are republicans are likely going to regain control of the senate. But im certain if youre Chuck Schumer you want to protect some of those vulnerable democrats in this certainly doesnt help. Is that as certain as the two michaels talking about the republicans gain the senate its going to be very close, but theres one thing that we should say again, that theres one thing for sure that none of us learn about what just Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin aint in the senate no more for a reason because they couldnt get reelected with the current policies that they have. Thats why theyre not seeking reelection. American people back to these as they just wont get something done. And to your point, they know that this 60 threats or whether its walk youre not is something standing getting in the way of getting something done in the senate . But as you know, its not just about innocence. Its also about the integrity of the conviction, right and there were serious legitimate concerns about this conviction. And at the very least he shouldnt be executed. Thats what were asked. This was not a dichotomy between execution or release. This was Execution Or Life in prison without the possibility of parole. And then his team and him and they would have time to to vet his his his claims of innocence. But now were looking at a family who had to relive this again Felicia Gayles family have to relive this all over again. And as the prosecutor, i cant look them in the eye and say, the right person was punished, punished because we dont know thats the scariest aspects of this. And also very difficult to maintain faith in the system that prosecutors you and i know how impactful and how much we can control certain aspects of it. And to know that you were fighting to understand the integrity of the conviction and thats done we have to our job, we have to recommend folks go to jail sometime. Thats part of our job.
