You know, theres a lot of people there are feeling not ready for the trump chaos. Once again, but arent sure if they know enough about harris to really dig in. So i mean, i think were just at this formative time where theyre trying to figure out the economic message judge, that hits particularly with those male voters that they really need to bring over to their side and shes still trying out a lot of different things yeah. And on the economy, lets dig into that. Peter. Just looking at the quinnipiac poll, better job handling the economy, Pennsylvania Trump has at two twopoint advantage. Michigan trump has a twopoint advantage. His Grandson Trump has a fourpoint advantage. We should say advantage, but clearly within the margin of error and then just looking separately at a New York times poll, this is about Pennsylvania Trump 51, harris, 47. Now its definitely very, very tight on the economy. It is quite a different picture than when Joe Biden was running on the ticket, particularly on the economy. Joe biden was losing that Economy Number in some polls by 15 points on all the attribute questions and theres probably has a lot to do with how voters proceeded to Joe Biden and his age Kamala Harris has closed the gap in a lot of ways. If im hurt and im democrats, i liked that Economy Number on that question. Who do you trust her on the economy . More republicans have always had a Builtin Advantage there. You just mentioned Mitt Romney, right . Like they are perceived as being Business Guys and people who were going to be better on taxes. Its just sort of built into the republican brand that they went on the economy democrats win president ial elections when they get that number close to parity. So biden got 50, 50 against trump in 2020 on that economy question, obama in 2012. I think he came within four points of rodney. Again, the business guy. So harris has to like that number all of the sub questions and the attribute numbers, generally speaking, i think are good for harris and all these topline numbers, all these polls that came out today, great is made mentioned shes probably winning in these states, but what the reality is under the hood is that its just very, very close. And its really theres a lot of like Latent Sexism in america and you hear sometimes i think its unconscious because its just someone that we havent, we havent seen a woman in that job yet. And so a lot of times people will say things like well, im ready to vote for a woman. But like im not sure, the rest of the country is ready for that. And all of trumps comments its about how harris would be manipulated like a play toy. All play into that. But that is one of the reasons i think that theyre having her talk a good amount about Foreign Policy in particular because they think that that thats one of their subject areas, even though thats not what people generally vote on, it makes her strong. Its the commander yet five. And then just the Flip Side we dont really know what Donald Trump will do. And we have a broad tax plan. We have a concept of a plan on Health Care what hes been saying since 2016. So there isnt equity here. Right. Which, you know, and then you could say, well, Thats Life and life isnt fair. Its funny. The polls, again in these subquestions one of them is like how much, how much do you think you know about what trump will do . And im truly appreciative of it. And that that was a problem that was created by legislation in 1980 that put tremendous strain on these pension funds. So its a problem that we create. They created and they finally fixed. And were grateful for, but, you know, Joe Biden wasnt pulling over well, either. Remember Joe Biden was in the race and we polled and it was pulling about 34 with our members got it. All right. I want to ask you about something that New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasiocortez pointed out and that is that the teamsters and other Labor Organizations rely on democrats to achieve key Policy Goals listen to this and at the end of the day, we know that when the teamsters are in trouble, who did they call them when we need to make sure that teamsters pensions are bailed out and we need to make sure that that there they have a fair shake at, negotiate getting table with real it was Sean Obrien calling democrats out for health. So just building on that, you mentioned a little bit of this, but ill just give you give even more details to our viewers know republicans in the senate supported the bill that bailed out approximately 600,000 pensions for the teamsters Kamala Harris cast the tiebreaking vote. We were calling them administration to stay out of it and ive quoted this many times that my neighbor that i grew up in with you familiar with in boston, if two people having a disagreement, you have nothing to do with that. You keep on walking so thats statements and consistent now, she has to remember that there is a clear divide, especially in teamster members, between the democrats and the republicans. And instead of trying to pick a fight with Labor Leaders who listened to them members and embrace their members opinions she should maybe get into her district where it voted far republican Farright Republican. It maybe find out what the problem is when i have a problem and a worksite and there is criticism i get right in there and find out what do you mean vote is Farright Republican cheat in our polling democrat. And ill pull you mean among teamster in our polling, New York, her district voted overwhelmingly republican to support former President Trump. So she may, she may want to focus on her job instead of mine. I want to ask you a little bit more about that polling if it is accurate, it would mean that almost 60 of your members do prefer former President Trump over Vice President harris. But i just want to give a small sample of Donald Trumps record on uniounion issues. He appointed supreme court justices that were part of major decisions going against unions. He appoints the nlrb people who consistently rule against labor. He visited a nonunion Auto Plant while the uaw was striking and encouraged Union Members to boycott their dues. And youve of course remember last month when he was on with Elon Musk praising musk for firing striking workers. You called him you call that economic terrorism and you do have i understand that there is some split, but you do have people like James Curbeam who was the head of the teamsters black caucus saying that what you have done is chosen not to stand up to a bully and an antiunion candidate and not endorsing Kamala Harris . Yes. A James Curbeam hes re represents a certain group thats not affiliated directly with the Teamsters Union and, you know, look, i criticized President Trump all criticize anybody that attacks labor across his Picket Lines or whatever else. And this was not an endorsement for the republican party. This is a Wakeup Call that the system is broken if far its far too long that the democratic party, and im a democrat has just got there a way we need to hold them accountable. But this is an opportunity as well for both parties to take a hard look. The democrats refocus and say somethings wrong. Weve got to recapture american workers. What do we need to do . And this is an opportunity for republicans who claim they want to be the word Working Party for american workers to prove that they can do that by supporting The Pro Act And Passing the pro act and helped develop a pro act.
