What do you make of that well, theres a lot of rhetoric, a lot of people think that the democrats, when they talk about threat to democracy and all of this and it seems that both of these people were radical laughs now, dan, i think whats really notable about this is how different this reaction is when you look back on his immediate reaction in the aftermath of that first Assassination Attempt in butler, Donald Trump himself, but all also his team and his surrogates had all called for unity, the Republican National Convention was just after that weekend. And everyone was saying we need to be unified. Donald trump himself was saying he was a changed man. It wasnt several weeks later until he started arguing that perhaps the rhetoric from the left was responsible for this. Now youre seeing him say that immediately they are really injecting this as a key part of his campaign messaging. When i talked to his advisers, they say, you should expect the type of language from Donald Trump, but also j. D. Vance and other surrogates throughout the rest of this week. And then play a couple of other clips of Donald Trump since the debate over the last week were failing nation and it happened threeandahalf years ago. And what, whats going on here . Youre going to end up in World War iii. Shes a marxs communist fascist socialise. We must stop her country destroying liberal agenda once and for all, she shouldnt be there anyway. I just question as a strategy that the Trump Campaign is looking to bring on board who voters that are not already on board is going to believe hes a credible messenger on calling out rhetoric about political violence. It, to me, its just something thats not, its not going to ring true with the voters that theyre trying to reach, or at least to me, hes a complicated messenger as you just proved on that point. So i get hes trying to coopt this and turn this around and say, hey, this is a democratic problem and try to just whitewash and erase all of his Rhetoric And Language over nine years in the Center Stage of american politics on this, i think thats a tough sell to the voters that theyre going to need and not long after the what the incident on sunday, which certainly does feel like an apparent Assassination Attempt its not me saying that thats Law Enforcement. Elon musk put something on his social media platform, x asking why Kamala Harris was also has also not been targeted. And then he deleted it j. D. Vance said something a bit different, but similar yesterday in atlanta, lets listen im not going to say were always perfect. Im not going to say that conservatives always get things exactly right. But you know, the big difference between conservatives and liberals is that we have No One has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months, id say thats pretty strong evidence that the left needs to the tone down the rhetoric. It needs to cut this crap out lan so well first, we dont know that No One has tried to kill Kamala Harris and last couple of months, this is the secret Services Job to keep people safe. There are threats on a daily basis of the president , the Vice President , elected officials, members of congress but j. D. Vance is also the person who started the false rumors. More than a week ago about springfield, ohio, the abouts false claims about the haitian immigrants there. And that has led to bob im Threats School evacuations, City Hall evacuations and a feeling of terror and that community, as far as reporting is concerned. So theres a complete Double Standard here. And i dont see that this political rhetoric on is going to die down. It seems like the Trump Campaign based on what has happened in the past couple of days is only going to continue to escalate this argument. And those comments on that, what happened in springfield after on sunday when i interviewed senator bands after i told him what the mayor of springfield had said, which is suggested saying that there is a Cause And Effect between this rhetoric and the threats that they have he pretty aggressively pushed back on any culpability on that, which he still is, whether or not theres a Cause And Effect. This has been something that federal Law Enforcement officials have been warning about for years. Now, the idea that false statements put out by Public Officials could incite violence once could encourage those to commit violence attacks. I remember after the attack on the capital in January 6th, i spent a lot of time just talking to Law Enforcement officials about just how much do you fear that this can become the norm . This being Public Officials in their statements . Encouraging people to commit violent attacks and that fear was palpable then it seems like its only becoming a norm now that being violent connected to our elections and to politics, i mean just the fact that right now you have a former President Boo . Yes. Has been the target of a Parent Assassinations twice, but is also an instigator of political violence. This is somebody that has encouraged people at his rallies to go after hecklers and his rallies. We know what happened on January 6th as well, and the encouraging other people to go to the capital and then the later attack on that calf just that fact that you have both a former president that is a Target And Instigator at this time, i think is emblematic of just the heightened Threat Environment that were in right now when it comes to political violence. And i dont think we should lose the thread that alaina pointed out, which is just the Night And Day difference in the response to the butler, pennsylvania shooting. And now what is different . Obviously, the circumstances of the two events are are totally different. He was actually leading Shot And Bleeding in like yes, i take that apart from the circumstances being different, the politics of the moment or totally different. Joe biden was his opponent at that time, and Joe Biden was losing that election. And Donald Trump was on a winning greek in that election heading into his convention, feeling very good about his prospects. The call for unity was the option for the messaging for that that is not the political position down jump finds himself in right now. He finds himself in a much more competitive race against Kamala Harris, still saving as some of those clips from last week pointed out, that she is the democratic nominee and not Joe Biden. He chooses a different kind of approach in response to this, this fingerpointing, this blaming approach, i dont think we can lose sight that his political circumstances are different. That may also have something to do with his different reaction here. Yeah, thats such a good point and i think its also important to say like all of these things can be true. Yes, that that the rhetoric has gotten way too hot across the board. There certainly seems to be more of it on one side historically than in recent history than the other. But its gotten too hot and you do have people who dont appear to be well, who have access to firearms who decide that this is an opportunity to act on whatever it is thats going on in their head. And you know, the blaming on on on politicians for this. I dont necessarily think help solve the problem. Yeah the access to firearms is really interesting. Later today, she will be talking to the n, a, b, j. It will be largely well, it will be unscripted. Shes gonna get questions from those reporters. This morning. She did a Radio Interview and were just getting this information. It was with a Spanish Language Radio Interviews, so were getting information about some of the highlights. And so she may yes, she made her first comments. Again, this was an interview with the spanish Spanish Language radio outlet, but she made some comments for the very first time beyond her Written Statement and then on sunday about the attempted assassination in florida on the former president the second time in two months, she said, well, i was briefed immediately after it happened, and i have to tell you political violence of any kind. I strongly condemn it and like americans im grateful that hes okay, but we all have to stand up and say enough of this approach. We have to have civil dialogue and discourse. We have to be able to talk through our differences and violence has no place. Again, this is the Message Weve heard from harris, from biden, from walls. We heard it from schumer and jeffreys like the democratic leadership across the board has just been in response to this being like walling off. There is no space for political violence. And end of sentence. And shes doing that here as well, while also acknowledging thankfulness that the former president is okay. If this is first of all, its just an important messages and Public Official . Never a candidate for president to say there is no place for violence. Thats a given. But just even if you look even further at the raw politics of this, this is another example of the Harris Campaign believes that it is a mistake, it is a mistake pretty much anytime they engage in Donald Trump, whatever Donald Trump wants them to engage and they need to stay on their message, which is first and foremost, i mean, yes, theres a big message about reparative rights. But first and foremost, it is the economy and as we prepare for the questions that she might get asked later today about the economy. I want to play an interview that didnt maybe get a ton of attention. It was on friday night. She did it with a local abc the affiliate in pennsylvania. And she was asked a question about the economy. Listen to what she said kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard she was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when i was a teenager i grew up in a community of hardworking people, who Construction Workers and nurses, and teachers and i tried to explain to some people who may not have had the same experience if a lot of people will relate to this, i grew up in a neighborhood of folks who are very proud of their lawn she eventually did get to what she calls her Opportunity Economy Policy initiatives. But the question was specific policies that will help bring down prices. Ive heard from some democrats who really want her to when say shes got to tighten that message . No, thats absolutely right. And in the few Policy Proposals that youve seen with details with like an extensive plan, have been an attempt by her campaign to try and address that. Right . She youve seen her, whereas the Biden Campaign would talk more about sort of Job Growth and sort of manufacturer in investment in manufacturing. Youve seen her with a bit more of an emphasis on driving down Grocery Prices and Housing Prices as well. I think thats connected to the fact that theres an awareness in the campaign that this is such a vulnerability for the campaign. The fact that theres still economic anxiety throughout the country, but also our polling shows that the times as well that just a lot of people still are looking to find out more about the Vice President. A lot of people dont know exactly sort of the policies that shes going to put forth or what she has worked on. So everything youre seeing here by the campaign is also just an overall effort, not just to sort of outline what her Policy Proposal those would be to address those political vulnerabilities, but also just a reintroduce yourself or introduce yourself to the american public at this point but i think youre going to see it with a pretty specific Media Strategy at this point. The Biden Campaign, as well as the Harris Campaign well, the Biden Campaign was very controlled with President Biden, right . Like going too a specific sort of digital outlets, moving away from traditional media. And for the Vice President , some of her real mistakes and the Vice Presidency and sort of struggles came in unscripted moments as well. So now youre seeing them start to rank camp up some of those interviews. And the way forward, including with nab J Panel Today . Yeah in the point that you make about how she still has to introduce herself to voters, which is part of the reason why she is so deep on her background as far as her middleclass family trying to tell that story through an economic message, even though she is slight on, on policies, but getting back to your one point about Donald Trump and xi is continuing to run this campaign as if Donald Trump is just over there in his own world. In her statement in response to what happened on sunday, one thing that she did not do, i went on the Radio Show is talk about what Donald Trump has been saying. She is completely ignoring the sideshow and moving forward with her own messaging, trying to stay on message yeah. Except what works on the Debate Stage. And then she made some alright but exactly. Now, the most important thing is, of course, to keep on helping ukraine because whats happening, happening now is that the russians are hitting cities in western ukraine, which means that there is escalation. And of course, more and more people are seeking Shelter And Refuge in europe so this is absolutely crucial that you keep on helping ukraine there. No taboos in a certain sense, of course, were not going to get involved, but we need to help them because they need to defend themselves in a way which is the most effective.
