I remember you said i was reading about this the day you were sentenced to remain, you told the judge and innocent man cant sit in jail for long and yet there you were. How did the process for fighting for your innocence begin . Itd begun the moment i woke up in the hospital, handcuffed to a bad even though i was in the condition that i was zheng, i knew that the fight has started. I survive and im really had to just strap on my bootstraps that time right then and there. So i was fighting from day one now. And i want to i went to a trial, a jury trial, and all these Police Officers paraded up in there and told their troops, which was a lie. And i was like hearing them tell those lives from i mean, sitting there knowing that what they were saying was not true, what was going through your mind . I mean, must have been fear anger, resentment, hurt it was i was i was disgusted, i was saying i wanted to dive over the table at times i cried. I couldnt believe that at those moments. Im just like what elie talking about, it not talking about me. But they werent. And vanessa, once the Innocence Project picked up this case, i mean, how did you go about proving to remains innocence and the face of a trial with Police Officers testifying the way they did well, the un officers in germains case testified that they shot your main after they got on the scene and interrupted an attack and enter main lunged at them with a gun, and he has always maintained that story was inaccurate, was false. And when we started to review his case, really, what what got us interested is that there were a lot of 911 calls reporting seeing the assailant, take the victim into this alleyway and they all reported the perpetrator wearing a gray Hooded Sweatshirt please claim, but they got on the scene and as soon as they got their terrain with these, they and they shot him after he tried to attack them. But guess what . He didnt have a great but its sweatshirt. And he didnt match the description that had been reported at the assailants oh, please jump to the conclusion that he was the assailant when they got to the scene because he wasnt the alley. But of course he lives in the alle trying to help the victim. And they realized their mistake that should have been the end of it. But instead of acknowledging that they shot an innocent man, once they realized he didnt match the description, he was unarmed. They initiated a cover up. They plan to the gun on him. They said this gun belonged to him and pointed out it was registered to a Philadelphia Police officer and through forensic evidence, we were able to establish that they lied about what happened because in fact tremaine was shot three times from the back thats unbelievable to hear. I mean, my heart is rising and falling with every word the two of you are saying and thinking about how many years you spent as a result of what they said happened but thats a really big part of two remains case has involved what you did or did not know about the Police Investigating his matter.
