paperwork to oust him less than 24 hours after a scathing report. and now, what israel defense says they found on the ground. and now, allegations of abuse by singer cassie and what the music mogul has to say. i'm kate bolduan with sara sidner and john berman and this is cnn "news central." the house ethics committee chairman has filed a paper to expel freshman congressman george santos. he has done it this before, but this is different because the house ethics committee has filed a scathing report accusing him of stealing campaign money and using it for his own gain. he is accused of spending donor monies on luxury goods, botox, and sephora hauls, and fans only subscriptions. lauren fox is on capitol hill, and what are you hearing from the lawmaker, and there was a call for, yep, we will file it, and now that it is filed, and what about the lawmakers learning about this damaging ethics committee investigation? >> yes, sara, what you are hearing from the members over the course of the last 24 hours is many of them who had voted against expelling george santos from congress in previous resolution votes, they are saying that they are ready to get rid of george santos, and kick him out of congress. it is an extremely high bar to kick a member out of the house of representatives, and it takes a 2/3 majority of the housef representatives, but so far, at least a dozen house republicans who have voted against expelling santos before, and they said that now they would be supportive of the measure, and assuming that all of the democrats would vote to expel him, you need 50 republicans to change their vote and support that resolution, and they are well on their way. now that the resolution has been introduced again, the lawmakers will bon a thanksgiving recess until next week, and we expect that resolution to come to the floor for a vote, and november 23rd, we expect george santos to speak about his plans, and there are questions if he will remain in congress of his own volition or whether his colleagues are going to kick him out. >> thank you. and now, the investigation into the president's son hunter is using a california grand jury apparently to obtain more documents and get possible testimony from multiple witnesses. this is all according to the people familiar with the investigation. also, new cnn is reporting that james biden, the president's brother, has received a subpoena. katelyn polantz has more on this. >> david weiss out of the justice department who has been investigating hunter biden for many years now is using this grand jury now, indicating more charges to come, and indictment perhaps out of the grand jury of california against the president's son hunter biden. what we know about the grand jury investigation is that we don't have a full idea of the scope of it. we do know that it is likely very much about the business dealings of hunter biden, and perhaps the fact that he did not pay some of the taxes in 2017 and 2018, and something that he tried to have a plea deal at the misdemeanor level that fell apart on the charges in delaware and now the special counsel is looking to the charges in california and something that weiss signaled he would do before, but the other thing is that this is subpoenas for documents and testimony including a subpoena to the brother of the president james biden who is somebody who has insight into hunter biden's income, and some other financial interests, and that is one of the reasons that james biden may be brought into the grand jury to testify. hunter biden's legal team is likely to fight anything that may arise out of this grand jury investigation in california. he is fighting a separate gun charge where he is indicted in delaware after the plea deal fell apart, and they want to go to trial there, and claim that he is immune from further charges because of the deal he had made with weiss's office previously, but we have to see what happens. we do know that hunter biden has some legal risk out there now, because of the active grand jury investigation in los angeles. kate? >> absolutely. great reporting, kaitlan, thank you. john? >> new cnn polling on the state of the race, the republican race, and the early voting state of new hampshire, donald trump is way in front, but nikki haley is in a comfortable second, and look at who is not in third -- ron desantis now in fourth place. and slipping. with us now, cnn political analyst, and editor of the "the atl atlantic" and i want to start with ron desantis, and he is running hard in iowa, and we want to couple new hampshire and iowa and maybe it is a mistake to think of them as a duo. >> look, the last three winners of the iowa caucus is following ron desantis. we had huckabee and then rick santorum and they had built in solidifying the evangelists, and then they careened into a snowbank where none of them got to 12% of the vote. evangelicals are not even half of the vote, and what happened to san or the row and cruz and once they were stamped at the religious right, they had very little right audience in new hampshire, and right now, ron desantis is looking like he is basically on the same road to nowhere. >> one thing that all of the candidates won, and he may not. >> he may not win in iowa. the big question for the republican race is can you avoid 2016 where the voters who are resistant to trump are still divided among the counties, and anyone can get into a race with trump, and most of the republicans thought that if anyone could, it would be ron desantis, but what this poll is showing, and polling in south carolina shows that nikki haley may have more runway to establish herself as the principle alternative to trump after those early states than desantis. >> give me the glass half full nikki haley candidacy if she wants to win here. she could surge in new hampshire and then south carolina. >> so, 3-2-1 is the argument. if she can finish a strong at least third in iowa which now seems possible, and can she parlay that into a strong finish in new hampshire and strong second, because new hampshire is a congenial electorate for her, and moderate and college-educated and independents vote 40% of the electorate, and then she goes home to south carolina. now, if she finishes second to trump in south carolina, that is probably it. you know, the winner of the south carolina primary has won the republican nomination every time since 1980 except for 2012 when ging rrich had the flukey n there. and so can she get enough momentum out of iowa especially since desantis has been endorsed by the governor, and can she continue into new hampshire and south carolina. >> but you can begin to see a semi plausible path which was hard to see before. however, in new hampshire, there are people who can vote in new hampshire, who cannot participate in other votes. >> yes, that is right. they can vote in that electorate b butn't. desantis tried to run at trump from the right, and in that process, he has not gained a lot of the votes, but he has alienated the part of the trump supporters, and they have left to nikki haley. so she is allowed to get a lot of the moderate college educated electorate. she is going to have to cut into the constituency if she is going to be a serious threat. >> if you are looking at the head-to-head matchups, and joe biden and nikki haley, she is doing significantly better than those. >> she performs better than those who have moved systematically away from the virginia state race, and in 2022, the principle reason that the red wave fizzle out is because they didn't like the fringe voters in the election. >> what we don't know if the republican voters, and also, that the college educated voters are shrinking. trump is refashioning the gop in his image. more blue collar and that is going to make him more difficult to beat. >> good to see you, ron brownstein, and it is great to have you here. >> thank you. >> i love when ron brownstein comes to the set and hangs out with us. good stuff. coming up, israel is going to release new video of what it says is an operational shaft inside of the al searching for people, and what they are doioing t to gigive th families some answers. that is a still ahead. the idf operation at the al shifa hospital continues, and they say they have found two bodies of hostages. they are yehudit weiss and noa marciano, and noa is a corporal. and still, the idf estimates 237 hostages are still being held. now, with that grim news of the discovery, israel has released what they say is a first look at the hamas infrastructure that they say they are finding at the hospital complex. the video showing what the idf is saying is an operational tunnel shaft found feet away from the hospital, and video of weapons and ammunition that you saw right there released from the id, if that they say found at the hospital. israel said that al shifa, gaza's largest hospital has been used by hamas to shield operations. the biden administration says that u.s. intelligence backs it up. oren liebermann is tracking these developments with us. and oren is back with us. oren, what is known and what is being said about the tunnels that the idf is releasing video of. >> kate, we have been able to locate, geo locate the tunnels at the hospital, and what is behind the tunnel door and behind that shaft which would go a long way to confirming what the idf has long asserted which is that hamas uses hospital complex above to shield and protect its infrastructure below. we have not seen into the infrastructure and we don't know if there are multiple shafts there or the large complex that the idf has long said is there, but this is the beginning owhat they say is a process of releasing evidence as they are working through the fourth wave of that complex to look through the infrastructure, and again, the u.s. has given its own backing, and joe biden says the u.s. has its own intelligence that shows or says that hamas has infrastructure below the complex itself and the idf says they found weapons and ammunitions within the vicinity, and meanwhile, the doctors and nurses say it is a medical complex, but this is a very black and whitish shoe. there either is or is not hamas infrastructure below the hospital. there is not a spectrum here. this is why it is an important fundamental claim here of the credibility claim of it is or is not there. and the u.n. says an independent commission or check to go in to look at what is underneath the hospital itself as the idf operations continue there. >> oren, can you talk know, or tell us more about the hostages whose bodies were recovered or discovered and recovered by the idf in this operation, and what are you hearing about this em? >> well, as you point out, number of israeli hostagings being held in gaza is 237. we learned more about two israeli hostages killed. the grandmother, the 65-year-old yehudit weiss who was the hardest hit on october 7th, and her husband was killed in the attack. her body was discovered near al shifa, and then they came out to say they had discovered the 19-year-old body of noa marciano, and they brought out her body. at the same time emily hand, an irish israeli girl's father who put her picture up in times square had this to say about his girl. >> she is going to have a birthday. we are hoping that she would be back home by now. that would have been our prayers answered, but they have not. she is still down in the tunnel, and we have to hope now that she is going to back by christmas. >> he had been led to believe she was killed in the attack only to find out that it was then believed she was being held hostage. hostage negotiations ongoing, and there is some reports and rumors that something imminent, and some deal is close, but from where we are standing, that is yet to come to fruition. >> you ski it on the billboard that mr. hand put up says that today is emily's 9th birthday. >> that story is so crushing, and that father is going through so much. >> i want to update you on what is happening in al shifa hospital in gaza, and we are hearing from a doctor there who says that the majority of the icu patients on ventilators have now die. earlier this week, the hospital ran out of fuel and oxygen forcing it in effect to close, although there were still people doing work, and doctors and nurses doing work there, and we are joined by the deputy program manager of doctors without borders, dr. alian. and what can you tell us is going on with your colleagues on the ground inside of the hosp hospital? >> so, we have not heard that we have a surgeon inside of the al shifa hospital that we have not heard from in a couple of days actually and just prior to losing communication with him, he had told us about having to do amputations on patients without anesthesia, and they were out of supplies. and that they were fearing for their lives. >> when you, and just the thought of doing an amputation or any surgery without anesthesia is just the horrific thing that anybody would have to go through, the patients, but also the staff there, and how is your staff handling all of this, and we are hearing shortages of food and clean water, and they are, too, in the same position, and how are they functioning? >> they are traumatize and terrified. so we have not only the staff that we had working in ining ind sheltering there with their families, because they felt safer living and sheltering in the offices than being in their own home, so we have around 130 men, women and children of whom include our staff and their families in our offices, and some of them were going to al shifa hospital to help out. of their own volition. prior to the latest situation in shifa and very traumatizing with them, because they were doing the best they could with very little means. it got difficult for them, and they were trying to finish their shifts and trying to get back home, but there were sniper attacks, so they had to shelter in home. they were in our offices, but they were terrified, because one of the water tanks on the roof of our buildings has exploded. they are out of food and water, and the last we heard from them, they were doing the shifts where the men were doing the ramadan-style fasting to spare the food and water for the staff. this is the staff. they are traumatized and so are we. >> my god, it is a disaster that keeps getting worse and a catastrophe at this point. i wanted to ask you about the fighting going on, and i wanted to ask you about the things that are going on outside, and you are talking about how they are too afraid to leave. we are hearing about a tunnel outside of the hospital complex, and some weapons there, and what is the message to the israeli military and the hamas, and the demands as they are trying their very best to save people's lives every single day during all of this? >> i can say that i was around shifa hospital six weeks ago and i have never seen weapons there, and i have never seen military there, and our staff, they have never seen military personnel or weapons in the hospital. we work inside of the hospitals, and we don't work under them, and we have no idea of the evidence. having said all of that, what we have demanded is a cease-fire. we have to get aid to the patients. we have to be able to get fuel and water to the population. the people in danger are not only the people in the hospitals, but the civilian population who does not have access to clean water or food. there are huge epidemic diseases just ready to explode if we don't get some proper support to this population. so for us, there is no, you know, few hour pause to guarantee what the population really needs in this time. >> you saying that anyone can tell that, and like a few hours is not going to do the job, and not etch close, and the talk of a several days' cease-fire which is looking at trying to negotiate that, and i want to say thank you to the doctors who are able to stay, and still able to do work in the awful of conditions, and thank he is an icon in the business, but this is civil and not criminal at this point, right? >> yes, absolutely. sara, what is happening is explosive allegations within the complaint, and to be clear, it is a civil lawsuit which lays out chapter and verse, and what she is caming about his conduct and so this is filed in southern district court of and leads to damages, monetary damages if it is proven. that is distinguishable if it were a criminal prosecution where it would relate to life or liberty interest, and that is about jail. this is not about jail, but civil. so interestingly enough, the prosecutors or time reports, but that is because she didn't believe it was safe for her to do so, according to her, but the allegations are not being investigated by the nw, c. why do i say that? federal, and the fed as are indicated in the complaint. >> because when you go state to state, because then it is intrastate, and you taught me that. so what are the allegations she is alleging? >> numerous. what happens is when you file a complaint, you put what is called the causes of action. and the causes of action relate to what we talked about in terms of the sex trafficking in multiple jurisdictions whether it were miami or california or in new york caking misvebture ra and so there are eight in tote of issues relating to new york and california as well to buttress what the talking to the operation to take out hamas, and the right of israel to defend itself, and he said how israel does this matter, and it is important when it is coming to the civilians caught in the crossfire of hamas' making, that everything be done and brought to the assistance of those who desperately need it, and i heard him saying this, and i thought thinking, how do you call it a balance, but how do you balance this in your mind from the very unique perspective which is the need to take out hamas, and the need to get henri home, and other civilians as you have said unfold suffering across the board in israel and gaza, and how do you ball tlans? >> i want to say that i have compassion for any uninvolved people who are suffering from this tragedy. i think it was forced upon the people in israel and forced upon the people in gaza by the hanous act of hamas on october 7th. i have full compassion for them, and i think that if hamas will choose to surrender and lay its weapons, this untold suffering will end in the short term, and we might be able to begin to envisioning the world, the region gaza after the war. but yes, there is balance, and i know that we want to bring the
