Tonight, President Biden, two wars and one Primetime Address to the nation. We will see the president this evening from the Oval Office Making a direct appeal to the American People to essentially stand tough this as he says hes going to ask congress for tens of billions of tdollars to help support ukraine and israel. In gaza, new air strikes and explosions seen this morning. In Southern Gaza where civilians, as you know, have been told to flee for safety, this was the scene we saw over and over again this morning outside a hospital in khan youris. This was a few hours ago, a stream of people rushed in many for aid. Right now this is unclear what caused the explosion, the idf said they are looking into it. So to give you a sense of where some of these locations are. Khan youris is right there. The Raffa Crossing is right here. This is where President Biden said he has brokered a deal to allow some aid from egypt to cross. Were waiting to see if and when that will happen. This the line inside gaza where people have been told to evacuate south of. Some other important new information today. 203 hostages, the idf now says theyve contacted families of some 203 people who could be held hostage inside gaza now. This would be their 13th day in captivity. One other key thing the idf said, the Hamas Terrorists who infiltrated into israel, Israeli DefenseOfficials Say its possible some of those terrorists might still be operating within industrial. Well get to all of this coming up. I want to start with the situation unfolding in khan youris in Southern Gaza. Lets get to selma for that. The latest death toll we have is 13 People Killed, thats according to a local Hospital Director in gaza. But the fear is that that number could rise. The Hospital Director saying an entire city block was levelled in this explosion. I want to play you those images that kate was playing earlier for us. They are disturbing as you looking at the people streaming into the hospital, many of the victims are children. You have 2 Million People, about 2 Million People trapped essentially in an urban war zone, of that population of 2 million, half of them are children and half of the population of gaza, in the last about ten days of conflict have been displaced, forced out of their homes. Are desperately seeking a safe place, are looking for refuge. Groups say that doesnt exist in gaza. There is no safe place. As you mentioned, it is the south that many families were told to flee towards over the weekend. This is the south. This is where theyre supposed to find safety, absolutely none of that there. In the hospitals that theyre streaming into, they are on the brink. Theres a complete siege of gaza, imposed by israel after that horrific Terror Attack left some 1,400 people dead. That siege means no food, fuel, water. That means, doctors tell us, inside those hospitals they are performing surgeries without painkillers, treating people on the floors, they are running out of fuel to even run these hospitals. People are dying of preventable causes. And rights groups, when you look at these images, say the situation is spiraling out of control. Israels Offensive On Gaza amounts to collective punishment again of these two Million People trapped inside. That aid were talking about 20 trucks, thats what was agreed upon, 20 trucks p. Thats a drop in the ocean of need on the ground. Salma, thank you very much for keeping us up to speed on what is happening in Southern Gaza. Well come back with you in this a second. Also for the first time in this war, desperately needed aid, including medical supplies will soon be starting to enter gaza from egypt. Thats what were told. We know that was one of the goals of President Biden during his trip to israel. And biden told reporters last night he, quote, got it done. Jeremy diamond is in israel. Jeremy, first, lets talk about this. What can we expect to hear from President Biden with regard to all of his efforts within israel and in gaza from his trip when he speaks tonight . Look, it sounds like this is going to be a big picture speak from President Biden this evening. Only his second ever Primetime Address from the oval office and hes going to try to make the case, the case for americas role in the war in the war in ukraine and the fight against hamas. Talking about the role america plays in supporting the israeli and ukrainian people as the president views it. But this is about a big funding request hes putting before congress, expected to put north of 100 million combined for supporting ukraine, israel, taiwan as well as resources for the u. S. Border with mexico. So this is about driving up public support for these various causes and also trying to connect them. The Connective Tissue that the president is going to try to find between all of these events is going to be a central focus of the president s speech this evening. We heard from the president S Deputy National security adviser who said the president is going to, quote, lay out his view of the extraordinary moment were in connecting all of these events and explaining why they matter to the american public. Jeremy, what is it like there . Whats the latest on the ground where you are . Reporter its the city in israel that has received the most rockets of anywhere else. They have this 1,200 Rockets Rain Down on the city in the past 12 days about 200 of those have made direct hits on businesses, apartments and more inside ash kekelon here. 25 of the rockets have rained down here on the city of ashkelon. You have behind me the Command Center where when a rocketrock it lands they can track it and know where to direct Emergency Services there. Theyre also coordinating the evacuation of people choosing to leave the city. About 25 to 30 of the citys 170,000 residents have made the decision to leave the city for a safer grounds. The majority of the city remains, but it really has come to a stand still in many ways. About 90 of the citys businesses are estimated to have closed. And those that remain are essentially supermarkets, pharmacies, Grocery Stores, et cetera. We spoke with a at the Grocery Store today making her weekly shopping trip. She said that is the only time she leaves home. Even though the Iron Dome System intercepts the large majority of the rockets you dont know where the rockets that do make impact are going to hit. So people here, theres a sense of resilience, they want to remain in their city but some taking precautions like only leaving for essential reasons. Kate . Jeremy, thanks for being with us. With us retired general mark hertling. Jeremy is in ashkelon talking about the rockets fired from gaza going there. Theres a reason. There is a reason. This is an expansion of the map that hamas can hit different targets from gaza here. They have low Yield Weapons that dont go far, about 17 to 20 kilometers, thats under ashkelon. About the last decade they got better rockets that can go up to ashdod where some of the reporters have been. But they have long range rockets that can go 70 Kmts Kilometers or more hitting tel aviv, jerusalem, bethlehem. Youre talking about this range here. The range has increased but the bulk of the weaponry within that zone. Still here. I want to talk about what we could see on the ground and it perhaps explains what were seeing in chuck schkhan youris. The idf released this map in 2014. This is a neigorf gaza city. All of these marks on this neighborhood are what . Depends on the legend. But this is gaza city. This is northern gaza. You can see how many hamas activities were going on here. From arms caches to sniper positions, to defense positions. And these are all inside of buildings. Thats whats tough. This is mounted warfare in an urban environment. The hardest thing that an Infantry Unit does. The idf point here, look how much hamas stuff there is here how with ke can we celebrate interspersed with civilians. Yes. And theyre caught in the middle. This is above ground. Below ground. This is a tunnel map from 2014. 2021. This is what they knew out of 2021. This looks like a map of squiggly lines out of three main cities, north, central and south, but this is the same length of the new york subway system. Youre talking about tunnels that take a righthand turn or a dogleg or things like that. Its hard. And Iranian State television there was a segmentment talking about how iranian proxies could hit israel if they wanted to get in the war. I wanted to illustrate the Borders Of Israel are hard to see. But israel is right there. Point, show us where iranian proxies could hit israel fronts. This is not only the dialogue from last night but the Supreme Leader of iran said it a week ago. Heres southern lebanon, you have sinai, egypt, you have private Military Companies coming out of iran in northeastern iraq. You have iranian pmcs, Military Companies. They sighted rockets from yemen. You have an arab street in saudi arabia supporting the palestinians. All of these other arab countries can provide forces to could counter israel. Israel is a nation 250 miles long at its widest point right here, 85 miles wide. They are surrounded on all sides by people who dont like them and in some cases people that just want to kill jews. You can see if there was a coordination here it would be incredibly threatening for israel. General, thank you very much. Kate . Coming up, new video coming in the this morning showing fresh strikes in gaza. The idf said It Hit Hundreds of hamas structures overnight. The details on this next. Plus a horrifying level of detail. New cnn reporting of how much hamas knew and how much they prepared before the october 7th Terror Attack. Well have more on that and bring you back to capitol hill where they still do not have a speaker. Will jim jordan try a third time . Stay with us. This morning the idf said it struck hundreds of Hamas Structures In Gaza in the last 24 hours. The intensity of one overnight blast was captured on camera. Take a look at this. The Palestinian Red Crescent society which is an Aid Organization said this happened in gaza city near a hospital. Nick robertson is live in israel east of gaza. In the box left to you here were seeing a view of the gaza skyline this morning from when an apparent blast happened in sderot. What are you seeing happening. Reporter right now just Heavy Machine Gun Fire from this area where we know there are a lot of idf forces placed. This would bring them close to the border fence with gaza. Its impossible this time about but its its not uncommon nic, can you adjust your mic real quick . I think the wind is hitting up against it, maybe. Reporter its possible it is. Theyre telling me its okay. The small arms fire there thats not uncommon but thats pretty intense and weve been getting bouts of that, last night there was Heavy Machine Gun Fire in this area. Indicative of the fact there are more and more troops ready waiting for the order to go into gaza. Just a few minutes ago while we were standing here there were incoming rockets here from gaza. The sirens went off. We paused, took some cover for that. But in terms of the number of strikes on gaza, we know in the north here of gaza behind us, perhaps it was a quieter night, less intense than other times in the northern end of gaza but two significant impacts were aware of in the south of gaza one close to rafa, close to the Border Crossing with egypt where we understand there are 20 trucks waiting to bring aid to gaza. A palestinian News Organization said there were 30 People Killed in that particular air strike and in khan yunis, roughly in the center of gaza, a doctor said a number of people from a Single Family were killed when the Apartment Building they were in was struck by israel missiles and the whole building collapsed. That small arms fire is continuing and its pretty intense and sounds like its going two ways. Sounds like an exchange of fire. I cant say what it is or precisely where its located but we have heard that sort of thing before, perhaps looking back to last week, when the idf was coming in contact with hamas operatives still inside israel. Im sure well get details on this incident later. We dont have those right now. Kate . Thats an interesting point, nic, especially the perspective from last week. Since the attack on october 7th we heard from the idf that they i think even just yesterday encountered what they say was Hamas Terrorists in israel still. Just perspective on even after the attack how big the push was of terrorists coming in from gaza and how infiltrated they became because theyre still finding them. Reporter theyre still finding them and its believed that some of them literally went to ground when they came across. Maybe that was their instructions, orders, go to ground, they had supplies they could last and go for a long time. Because they would be aware the idf was coming to the border region and a couple of hamas operatives would take on a number of, potentially, Israeli Defense force troops and thats potentially what were listening to at the moment. There are big Gun Positions not far from here, Heavy Howitzer positions. There are idf forces out there, based in had some of the neighborhoods around here and also projecting force towards the border fence with gaza. It can be any one of these situations that could be unfolding right now. Absolutely. Great to see you, nic, thanks for being there. Just to remind everyone, Nic Robertson is here in sderot, looking into gaza where he is, just a mile, he can see and hear so much of the back and forth of whats being fired into gaza and from gaza. There is other major news this morning. Will there even be a vote to figure out who the next Speaker Of The House will be . Jim jordan appears to be hemorrhaging support. Were getting new reporting on what the plan is now. So any minute now we could learn whether jim jordan will try once again to become Speaker Of The House. He has been moving in the wrong direction. Jordan lost 20 republican votes on tuesday, 22 republican votes on wednesday. The earliest we could see the beginnings of a vote would be around noon today but were not sure its going to happen. Lauren fox is on capitol hill with the very latest. Lauren, what are you picking up . Reporter yeah, john. Theres so much right now that is very fluid as we await whether or not jim jordan is going to go to the floor again. I did speak to jordan this morning he said his expectation was they would still vote but signalled they would likely have a republican Conference Meeting ahead of that vote. A lot can change when republicans go in a room Behind Closed Doors and have a conversation about the next steps. I also talked to a close ally of jim jordan, Warren Davidson who said there was discussion how you could give jim jordan more time to win over the skeptical republicans, more than 20 of them at this moment, far more than he can afford to lose if he wants the speakership. One of the ideas floated is the idea of empowering Patrick Mchenry to be a temporary speaker allowing him to put issue hs on the floor, keeping e government open and aid for ukraine and israel. Any issue that would be difficult for a new speaker on the job. So that could be one way to give squlor dan more time to win over skeptical votes. But even if you got mchenry into a position where he was the interim speaker, its not clear that jim jordan would ever change the minds of some of those members who had been voted repeatedly against him on the floor. Timing of a vote today is fluid, its unclear what is going to hatch on the floor of the house. Because if jim jordan goes to the floor and loses more votes its hard for him to have an argument that hes the best guy for this job. John . Might be looking for offramps in the next hour and a half or so. Well let you keep chasing people let us know when you find out more information. Thank you. Joining us is the congressman from new york, ninick, you voted against jim jordan twice now you voted for lee zeldin. What do you think is going to happen . Were told we might vote around noon today. And i dont expect a different result i think there will be more republicans against mr. Jordan for weeks as long as hes been campaigning i asked him and mr. Scalise to show me a plan, to show me a plan to keep the government open while securing the border, while cutting spending, at the same time for my constituents funding the World Trade Center health program, the Flood Insurance program, do other things vital for our country and so far no one has the vote or e swajed our concerns. You have been clear what you want to hear from the next speaker to earn your support. It seems very obvious then that one can assume that jim jordan has done none of that. Is there a promise or a i wont even call it a concession. Is there a promise he could make to you that would win your support at this point . Do you trust him . First things first. The campaign for speaker is usually something that takes months, if not years to build. One builds a team and relationships and builds a legislative record and a consensus around him or her to get to the speakership. Now were trying to do it within 14 days and those relationships are not quite mature just yet. I have been speaking for the couple of weeks about what it would take to get me to yes. I am in discussions with mr. Jordan and his team, but im not going to settle for a promise. I want to see people cosponsor bills, sign letters, making social media posts making a Firm Commitment to keeping the government open while he make movement on the budget and border. Im not going to take someones word for it and be disappointed after they take the gavel. I want to see plans with solid commitments before i lend my vote to anybody. You have been open to seeing Patrick Mchenrys powers expanded as a temporary speaker in light of a mess if you will. If it takes democrats to get that approved, are you okay with it . Take a step back. I dont think a single vote of the house is required for the temporary speaker to act. Its inherent in the title. In the absence of a speaker, a temporary speaker can, and i would suggest, should act. This is the point of having the job. It was contemplated post 9 11 for the continuity of our government. All business should not stop if there was a vacancy of speaker. Dont get confused with the latin terms in there. Its a temporary speaker. Mr. Mchenry has the time to act and this is the time he should act. You have shared on Social Media One of the threats that you have received because you have voted against jim jordan for speaker. Other members other republicans have received threats, even spouses of some members have received threats. Why do you think this is happening . Because theres a couple of jerks in our world who if they cant get their way they need to take to social media and make threats. Probably some kid in their moms basement having a bad night. I wont be deterred by those threats. Im a military veteran, my dad was a cop, step dad navy man, my grandfathers cops. I am resolved to ensure my constituents get what they deserve along the process. Its unfortunate that some of the dialogue, especially on the internet has devolved into this. But there are strong members standing their ground right now and im one of them and wont be deterred. President biden is going to be speaking tonight to make as the white house said a direct appeal to the American People to continue supporting and funding ukraine and, you know, obviously in the war against russia and also to fund and support israel amid those war efforts. The white house is going to be requesting something north of like 100 billion from congress to deliver, and this is for ukraine, israel, taiwan, and also the u. S. Border with mexico. Are you going to support that . Obviously details matter but are you open to supporting that . I think its problematic to jam each of those three initiatives into the same discussion. There are significant issues at the border and the Biden Administration is failing miserably every day securing the border yes, we need more technology, Border Agents and physical barriers to secure the southern border. Its the cause for many drugs and weapons and Human Trafficking coming across the border and the president and Secretary Mayorkas has to do a better job. The congress has given them the sources to do so. Public support for sending more money to ukraine is cratering in my district and others. We have questions of wheres the money going, whats the mission there . I dont subscribe to throwing more money to winning the war. Putin is a dictator, he was wrong to invade ukraine but we need to hear a plan from the secretary of defense, from the president , as to what those dollars will actually buy americans and an audit to make sure theyre not falling into the hands ive heard that from a lot of republicans, congressman. But if it is wrapped together with critical support for israel and also includes money for the border, do you vote against that . We need to see the entire package and the secretary of defense and the president need to tell the congress specifically what is the war plan in ukraine . How do we ensure those precious american dollars while we have priorities in the our own country arent wasted. If theyre going to package them all as an Omnibus Bill Concurrent with that they must come and explain themselves to representatives in in the house to ensure our Taxpayer Dollars are protected. That will begin tonight with the president s Primetime Address. Congressman, thanks for your time today. The Hamas Terrorists who infiltrated into israel on october 7th killing as many as 1,400 people, we are getting an extraordinary level of new detail. Israeli Officials Say new documents reveal just how precise the hamas plans were before attacking these israeli civilian communities. About how Hamas Terrorists executed their assault on israel, largely in these towns here right over the gaza border. Videos. Docuvideos and documents obtd by cnn revealed a detailed level of information about their targets. Photos of the plan were said to be recovered from the body of one hamas terrorist. Cnn has not independently verified the documents authenticity. Matthew chance is in Northern Israel with the latest on this exclusive investigation. Matthew, what are you learning . Reporter weve been learning quite a lot from a range of sources, including Israeli Government officials, giving a lot of this documentation that was taken as you say from killed hamas gunmen who were actually attacking israeli communities. Weve been talking to israeli fes First Responders and residents who witnessed the attacks firsthand. We built a picture of how much intelligence and Information Hamas had gathered on the israeli communities it targeted. Cnn has gathered chilling new insights and details on the hamas assault inside israel. Including disturbing video taken by the attackers themselves as they rampaged through israeli homes, killing on sitght. And then being killed. Searches of their dead bodies revealing a trove of highly specific hamas battle plans, including these details maps now shared with cnn by the Israeli Government showing communities near gaza like kafar targeted by the attackers. These were the terrifying scenes inside as hamas gunmen recorded themselves moving freely through the gardens of israeli homes. Code red, code red the israeli loud speaker blairs in hebrew. After the attack bullet holes and Bloodstains Room after room in a methodical killing spree. While hundreds of israelis were killed, some communities managed to repel the hamas gun men and save lives. A kibbutz near gaza residents pushed back and found documents on the bodies of the militants they killed with disturbing, highly accurate intelligence on their homes. Including precise numbers of armed guards there. At least 20 residents one document reads and ten soldiers. They knew basically the size of our security team. They knew about other three or four entrances to the kibbutz. It sounds like they knew everything. They knew everything. Where the generators are, where the armory is, they knew about rural roads around the kibbutz. Security footage shows how a gunman killed an israeli outside the Kibbutz Gates before being repelled. Even with detailed intelligence on their targets not every hamas objective was achieved. Nearby a kibbutz was not attacked. But we have evidence that hamas intended to inflict the maximum Human Casualties there and hold hostages, a detailed street map on another gunman and obtained by cnn shows individual buildings inside identified and assessed for their military value. The communal kitchen is described as the main place suitable for holding hostages. Inside the guard room the soldiers must be neutralized. While the Dental Clinic is designated a place for first aid for both enemies and friends. Israeli residents of saad say they also found that level of detail astounding. Shockingly, the details are very accurate. The map is a map of our kibbutz. Its horribly accurate. If they had come to oyour settlement, they knew exactly where to go exactly where to cause the most damage. Yes, and we see their goal was to take hostages, including children. Reporter israeli Officials Say they found other documents that advised attackers to kill anyone posing a threat or causing a distraction, to keep captives away froma arms or meas of suicide and use them as cannon fodder. Its a dark turn, even for a group seen here parading before the attacks. Thats come to symbolize the uncompromising face of Palestinian Resistance and violence against israel. Israeli Officials Say a document referencin Referencing Isis and al qaeda was found on one hamas gunman killed in this attack. The document given to cnn by a senior Israeli Government official praises jihad against jews and crusaders. Israeli Officials Say thats evidence hamas is increasingly influenced by global jihad ideology, an idea that many experts have dismissed. In the wake of the unprecedented brutality of the attacks, u. S. Officials tell cnn the hamas threat may now be reassessed. John, whats also being reassessed is israels own security because it was partly an israeli failure that led to these killings, these atrocities able to take place. Israeli has depended far too much on technology and not enough boots on the ground, people defending communities especially close to gaza which allowed hamas to exploit the intelligence it gathered in such a brutal way. Back to you. A chilling level of detail there. Matthew, what an extraordinary report. Thank you so much. Stay safe. Kate . Coming up for us, still a Murder Confession nearly 20 years in the making. The new details were learning about the killing of Natalee Holloway. Well be back. get exclusive offers on select new volvo models. Contact your volvo retailer to learn more. 18 years later, there are new answers in the murder that captivateded world for quite some time, and we are talking about the death of Natalee Holloway in 1995. Joran van der sloot has now confessed to killing her. She says that he rejected his sexual advances and so he bludgeoned her with a cinder block and pushed her into the ocean. And following this for years, we are joined by jean casarez. There have been so many stories of what happened her, and some involving beach and the ocean, and all lies, and then in 2010, he went forward to natalees parents, beth and Dave Holloway and he said, look, i will tell you where she is, but you have to give me 250,000 and it was an fbi setup, and they workeded with him since he came forward and he got to money, and he led them to an area in aruba and said, there is the body right there, and then said, ha, ha, it is a lie. Boom extortion lies. We have been working with the peruvian government under the extradition treaty, because he has been serving a sentence there, and so they gave him a deal. They said we will give you a plea deal, and you will plead guilty to the extortion and fraud charge, but you will tell exactly what happened to natalee, and it was done in a proffer, and audio recorded. We have some of the audio right there, because he did say it was on the beach. He said that they were kissing. He wanted go further, and natalee said no. He hit natalee, and natalee hit him, and then what happened is that he took a cinderblock to her head. Listen to what he says that he did, in his own words, after that. I decided to take her and to put her into the ocean. So, i grabbed her, and i half walk and then pulled her into the ocean, and i pushed her off. I walked up to about my knees into the ocean, and pushed her off into the, into the sea. So this is a 20year sentence that he has gotten for extortion which is a plea deal, and whats in it for him . The sentence is concurrently with the Prison Sentence in peru which is murder of another youn time and the holloways are fine, and there was a verifiedpolygra truth, but he wont spend a day outside of the sentence in peru. But i was reading the documents but if peru does let him out early, he has to come to the u. S. To finish the sentence. Thank you, jean casarez. And now, we have this new into cnn and katelyn polantz, it is involving Sidney Powell and a plea deal in georgia. What are you learning . This is a Significant Development this morning. What we have is Sidney Powell, one of the top lawyers working for donald trump who is pleading guilty in the Election Subversion Case that she is charged criminally in georgia and this is the state level with her and the 18 other defendants including donald trump, including mark meadows, including rudy giuliani, and in that case, she is pleading not only guilty to charges there, but in court at this very moment entering that plea before the judge. And she is agreeing at this part of the deal to testify at other trials. So she is to go to trial later in the week along with ken chesebro, and she is not going to go to trial, and she wont have that trial, and she is going to be in the situation where the prosecutors recommend her to avoid jail time as part of the deal, but it is significant not only avoiding the trial and putting in the guilty plea, but she is likely to become a witness against donald trump and the others as they go to trial in georgia and a lot here at stake not only in georgia, but also in the federal court in d. C. Where another criminal case against the former president exists, and Sidney Powell is identified as a top coconspirator here and what this means for donald trump is that it is not good for him to have people pleading and agreeing to cooperate with the prosecutors at the federal level or the state level and so to have Sidney Powell to agree to testify is not a good sign for him to go forward for those prosecuting donald trump at trial. Absolutely. And i am told that we have heard from judge mcafee in georgia, and we will listen to this together, katelyn. Okay. Ms. Powell, there is a document plea of guilty form, and is this your signature on the second page . Yes, sir. Maam, do you understand that this is a negotiated plea which means that your attorney and i have agreed an agreement to the proposed term to the court. I do. And you agree that this is the accusation of counts one through 6 that you are 12 months probation to run consecutively to each other . I do. And there is a fine imposed to restitution of 2,700 to the State Of Georgia and apology letter written to the citizens of the State Of Georgia and you truthfully testify in the trials of all of the other codefendants, and you have no other conversations with other codefendants until this case is concluded . I do. And that you have proffered and recorded proffered statements to this case, and any other cases asserted in a good faith and prior to entering this plea . I do. And judge, at this time, we will enter into evidence as states evidence the apology letter from ms. Powell. And ms. Powell, do you understand that this court does not have to follow the states recommendation in this case. I do. And you understand that the court does not have follow the states recommendation and you can follow through with trial on the original indictment . I do. And do you understand that if you are currently on probation or parole, your probation or parole may be revoked based upon entering this guilty plea . Yes. Do you understand that if you are placed on probation of any kind, you cannot violate the law in any way or the government or any other special conditions of the probation that was subject to your probation to being revokeded for the balance that is remaining . I understand. Do you understand that you are not allowed to possess any firearms while you are o
