Blamed the Israeli Military for explosion. But after investigating the matter, israel said they have evidence that the cause of the blast was a failed rocket blast from Islamic Jihad. Israeli Officials Say the damage does not suggest an israeli missile. A spokesman for the Israeli Defense forces told me that the failed rocket from the Islamic Jihad was caught live on al jazeera. They were broad casting it live, and i have an image here of the launch of the broad cast. I screen captured what they did. You can see this is just 6 59, you see the al jazeera emblem. Thats the rocket that fell into the hospital. Israelis released audio of individuals who they claim are members of hamas discussing the inc incident, acknowledging that it was Islamic Jihad and the failed rocket fell near the hospital. The u. S. National Security Council reaffirmed that initial intelligence does not suggest that israel was behind the blast as they issued this updated statement this evening, saying the u. S. Government assesses that israel was not responsible for an explosion that Killed Hundreds of civilians yesterday at the hospital in the gaza strip. This is based on available reporting, including intelligence and including Missile Activity and images of the incident. Intelligence indicates that some Palestinian Militants in the gaza strip believed it was likely caused bien errant Missile Launch carried out by pij. The militants were still investigating what happened. But palestinian officials in d gaza maintain it was israel. Regardless of what the facts are, the claims of the palestinians in gaza, those claims are being believed by arab leaders and believed on streets throughout the arab world. Jordanian and palestinian leaders, therefore, canceled their planned meetings with joe biden. And because of those claims, false it appears, there are protests igniting on the streets in beirut and throughout the capitals after other arab countries. Frustrations no doubt also because of israels bombardment of gaza. And also because frankly because of israels very existence and also because of joe bidens reaffirmation of support for the jewish state. Another priority for the u. S. Expressed today by joe biden in israel is securing safe passage along the Southern Gaza border with egypt for food and water and medical supplies and fuels to get into gaza, because of the dire humanitarian crisis in gaza. And for civilians, including hundreds of u. S. Citizens, Palestinian Americans and others trying to get out of gaza. Lets get right to erich erin b who is live in tel aviv. What is the latest from officials we are hearing about that blast in gaza . Reporter well, jake, as you laid out so many of the points, they put out their satellite maps. They put a map out here of Rocket Trajectories to show they know where a rocket came from. They have put out all their aerial images to show a israeli missile would put out a crater and there is no crater here. So they have done all of that. But to your point, arab leaders believing them, the Jordanian Foreign minister today said to cnn that the israeli army is saying its not responsible, but to be honest, try to find anybody who will believe it in this part of the world. Thats the challenge. A former u. S. Intelligence official was telling me that, look, you could present this evidence to ding abdullah of jordan. He could see it and realize it to be true, but he is not going to convince people in jordan that this is true and israel didnt do it. So thats the reality. Its circular snt going to be situation where people say israel wasnt responsible. Erin, tell me about this interview you did. You spoke with somebody who survived hamas Terrorist Attacks. Tell us about that. Reporter so, jake, you have spoken to people, you know, who have gone through this incredible trauma. I spoke to a young man, 23. He has lymphoma. Hes been trying to beat it for ten months. Because he has cancer, he went to the festival late. He was just going to drive and spend a few hours there. He spent time in the Israeli Defense forces himself. Hears the rockets, sees the shooting. Gets out of his car and runs into a shelter. Hes in this room with five other people, and they throw in grenade after aggrenade. Eight grenades, jake. He survived by putting a dead body on himself. When they come back in, he sees the guns, they shot that dead body again and again and again. He was underneath it and was shot in the stomach. But he had in all of this, when the terrorists first came in, Hamas Terrorists into this room, he describes the weapons, and he looks the terrorist in the eye and here is what he said. They come to the shelter when we look at them, they look at me, and what they see is you looked them in the eye. In the eye. What did you see . What i see . Nothing, no in the eyes . Uhhuh. I dont look. Its crazy on drugs. They looked like they were on drugs . Yes, of course. Reporter jake, he described the atrocities he saw when he ran for help, horrific atrocities. But ill say this, this is the reality that this was so intense and personal. The crimes, the carnage, the stabbing. And that there were people who would look eye to eye with the person willing to execute them. That is worth remembering every day what started it. It was that. Back to you. Erin burnett, thank you so much. Now i want to go to cnns m. J. Lee who is at the white house for us. Joe biden spoke with reporters on Air Force One about many subjects, including humanitarian aid that is just waiting in egypt, trying to get into dgaza. What did the president have to say . Reporter he just told reporters on Air Force One that he reached an agreement with egypts president , president sisi, that the agreement is to open the rafah crossing, to get this humanitarian aid into gaza. The agreement, he said, was to allow 20 trucks through for the time being. And then in terms of the timeline, how quickly this would happen, the president saying the roads need to get fixed. Potholes need to get fixed before trucks can get through. So he estimated that those 20 trucks could start rolling into gaza around friday. He also said that the purpose was only to get the humanitarian aid through, that it would not be to allow a lot of people out. So clearly this was a key Sticking Point in his discussions with the president of egypt. He called this a very blunt negotiation that he had with his counterpart in egypt. He said that they spoke for over an hour while Air Force One was on the ground for a refueling stop. Obviously, the president is on his way back to washington. So jake, we were just talking about how the president didnt get an opportunity to meet face to face with some of these arab leaders. The white house said when the jordan piece of the trip was canceled, that he did plan on speaking on the phone with some of the leaders, and this we are seeing playing out in realtime. He had this phone call. He said it was over an hour, and now this is sort of the result of that conversation. I should also quickly note, jake, that over the last few minutes, the white house has announced that tomorrow the president is going to deliver a primetime address from the oval office to address both the situation in israel and the war in ukraine. Just another vivid reminder of how much events overseas have overtaken the president s priorities and schedule. All right. Thank you so much. The Hospital Blast from gaza ignited angry protests across the middle east. Lebanon propalestinian demonstrators skirmished with police north of beirut. Police used Water Cannons against the demonstrators. In amman, jordan, a large demonstration took place. Its after midnight there. Have things calmed down . Reporter jake, we left just a short tileme ago. There was still hundreds of people there, carrying on with that protest, as we saw last night. Theres protests carried on to the early hours of this morning. This is a huge show of solidarity, but of course, a huge show of protests against israeli air strikes on the besieged gaza strip. We have been speaking to protestors throughout the day. Many told us they felt it was their duty to come out and show their solidarity, to show their opposition as these air strikes continue to intensify. Take a listen. The best thing we can all do is to stand here and be the voice of the people. Its pretty emotional. The whole thing has been running for nearly a lot of years, maybe a hundred years its been going on. I think its about time that, you know, people know the truth of what is going on. Reporter of course, jake, these protests arent new. We have been seeing protests take here in amman and jordan from the outset of this war on a daily basis. Protests across the middle east as you mentioned, and this is a cause that has deeply resonated with the arab world. Many expressed outrage and concern over the mounting civilian death toll in gaza. Of course, a lot of the focus has been on the situation at the hospital inside gaza. Hundreds killed, and as erin mentioned, israel has denied responsibility. Hamas and the Palestinian Authority has placed the blame, as well as the jordanian government, on israel. We speak to the people here on the ground and across the middle east, they feel this is another example of an escalation of violence by israel on civilians inside the gaza strip. All right. Thanks so much. Now back to israel with cnns Nic Robertson in the area just outside that has become an Israeli Military staging ground ahead of an expected Ground Incursion into gaza. Nic, a few hours ago you saw roberts from gaza and heard what sounded like israeli artillery fire. Have things quieted down at all . Reporter yeah, it has, jake. Some of that artillery, interestingly, was landing close to the border. It wasnt far away. So i think the thing were listening for tonight is early indication of a Ground Incursion, heavy movement of traffic, machine gunfire, the heavy bombing or artillery strike in the immediate leadup to it. Right now, its quiet. And is the sense of impending action as strong as it was earlier this week . Does an israeli incursion still seem likely . Do you sense that the u. S. Constant sending of major cabinet officials over the president is the only thing thats holding back the incursion, or is there Something Else going on . Reporter yeah, look, i think one of the big moves from countries in the region, arab nations, has been to call for a humanitarian pause, which would really stop military incursion, and everyone that is opposed to the war would want that to be extended. That hasnt happened. The u. N. Security council and the United States ambassador there vetoed it. So i think the perception here is still on the ground and the support that President Biden has given, israel is still ready for a Ground Incursion. Were told to expect a long war, but i think the anticipation is that the next phase of it will be some sort of Ground Incursion. Again, no decision on it yet, that we are aware of. Nick robertson in israel for us. Thank you so much. Cnn has obtained chilling new documents detailing the plans that hamas planned to go through with, and hundreds of families are still waiting to hear about their loved ones being held hostage. Are they satisfied with the response of the Israeli Government . Well talk with one of those families next. Hundreds of families, suffering families, are still waiting to hear something, frankly anything, about the whereabouts of their loved ones kidnapped by hamas. That includes this family. They say he was kidnapped after visiting his girlfriend. Hes just 17 years, a kid. Joining us now to talk about ofir is his aunt. Its a horrible question to even ask, but how are you and the Family Holding up . Umm, we try, we try to be together all the time. We dont leave my brothers house. At all times, we pray together, think about ofir and think about what hes going through, if hes cold at night, if someone can hug him. We really, really dont know what to think. We just hope that he will come to us quickly. Thats what i can say. Really unbelievable what we are going through with other hundreds of families that didnt do anything, anything. You know, he just went to be with his girlfriend. 6 00 in the morning, they started to hear gunshots and bombs. And the terrorists went inside their house, just dragged them from the safe room, and put them in the car and took them. Like things. I dont know what to say. Yeah. Look at his green eyes and we really just hope to bring him back. Hes just a boy, just a boy. Hes just a boy. Hes a basketball player. He loves life. He laughs all the time. Hes so sensitive. We are really so worried. When i heard can i Say Something . When i heard what he had to say about the people, it gave us hope. It gave us a feeling that the leader of the free world standing next to us helped us. We just hope that he really does everything to, to, to bring ofir home. I dont know if you know, but our fear is we are a dutch family, and we can choose where to live, but as President Biden told us, we have only one country, and this is our country. And we will stay here. We hope that we will stay here in peace. We really hope so. If you could talk to those who took ofir, what would you say to them . Its a very, very hard question, because the obvious thing is bring him home. I dont think we can talk to them. I dont think that just for him to know that we are doing everything, everything we can day and night to bring him home. We love him so much. We hope that treat him as a human being. We hope they let him be with other people. We hope they dont do anything bad to him. To him and to all the 200 and something people, children, old people, that they took without their oxygen, without their medicine, they took children without the parents. I dont have words in english or in hebrew on in any other Human Language to describe what we are going through. And i dont think i have anything to say to them, but bring him home so we can hug him again. Let us be safe. He reminds me of my son. He looks like my son. Thanks for talking with us. Well be right back. Thank you. Thank you very much. Bye. The power goes out and we still have wifi to do our homework. And thats a good thing . Great in my book who are you . No power . No problem. Tonights new and chilling information about the extent hamas was prepared for the october 7th Terrorist Attacks from gaza into nearby israeli targets comes in multiple cases from documents retrieved from the bodies of Hamas Terrorists. Our Matthew Chance joins us from northern israel. Some of the images we are about to see are disturbing. Matthew, the Israeli Government shared these documents with cnn . Reporter yeah, much of the past week, jake, we have been gather thing information from multiple sources, including Israeli Government officials. But also First Responders in this country and israelis who witnessed the attacks firsthand. What we built up is that a disturbing picture of how detailed the hamas raids were and how much information they gathered on the israeli communitys event they targeted. Again, viewers may find some of the pictures and the sounds in this report disturbing. Cnn has gathered chilling new insights. [ gunfire ] and details on the hamas assault inside israel. Including disturbing video taken by the attackers themselves, as they rampaged through israeli homes, killing on sight. And then being killed. Searches of their dead bodies revealing a trove of highly specific hamas battle plans, including these plans shared with cnn by the Israeli Government. Showing communities near gaza that were targeted by the attackers. These were the terrifying scenes inside. As hamas gunmen recorded themselves moving freely through the gardens of israeli homes. Code red, code red, the israeli loud speaker players in hebrew. After the attack, israeli First Responders saw bullet homes and blood stains in room after room, in what looks like a coldly methodical killing spree. While hundreds of israelis were killed, some israeli communities managed to repel the hamas gunmen and save lives. Residents pushed back at hamas attacks, and found documents on the bodies of the militants they killed, with disturbing, highly accurate intelligence on their homes, including precise numbers of armed guards there. Regional defense force, at least 20 residents one document reads. And ten soldiers. They knew basically the size of our security team. They knew about other three or four entrances. It sounds like they knew everything. They knew everything. Where the generators are. They knew where the armory is. They knew about roads around here. Reporter Security Footage shows how hamas gunman killed an israeli outside the gates before being repelled. Even with detailed intelligence on their targets, while every hamas objection was achieved. We have Documentary Evidence that hamas intended to inflict the maximum possible human casualties, and to hold hostages. A detailed streep map, found on another hamas gunman and obtained by cnn, shows individual buildings inside identified and assessed for their military value. The communal kitchen, for example, is described as the main place suitable for holding hostages. Inside the guard room, the soldiers must be neutralized, the hamas instructions say. This is designated a place for first aid for both enemies and friends. Israeli residents say they found that level of detail astounding. Shockingly, the details are very accurate. The map is a map of our kabutz. Its horribly accurate. If they had come to your settlement, they would have known exactly where to go and where to cause the most damage. Yes. And we now see that their goal was to take hostages, including children. Reporter israeli Officials Say they found other documents, too, that Add Vise Attackers to kill anyone posing a threat or causing a distraction, to keep captives away from arms or means of suicide. And to use them as cannon fodder. It is a dark turn. Even for a group seen here parading before the attacks. Its come to symbolize the uncompromising face of Palestinian Resistance and violence against israel. Israeli Officials Say a document referencing isis and al qaeda, which cnn has not been able to authenticate, was found on one hamas gunman killed during this attack. The document, given to cnn by a senior Israeli Government official, praises jihad against jews and crusaders. Israeli Officials Say thats evidenceincreasingly influenced by global jihadi ideology, an assessment many experts have dismissed. But in the wake of the unprecedented brutality of these attacks, officials tell cnn that the hamas threat may now be reassessed. Jake, the question tonight is how . How could hamas, a palestinian militant group, have gained so much Accurate Information inside israel . Survivors say they just dont understand how hamas would have got that kind of intel without help from the inside. Back to you. Cnns Matthew Chance in northern israel. We just heard joe biden plans to deliver a primetime address tomorrow evening. How will his trip to israel define his legacy . Well talk to an intelligence expert about that, next. You know i got two home runs. You got two jacks. And then my grand slam. I signed a ball for you. Okay. And it says papa i love you. Why did you do that . Because youve taught me everything about baseball. Oh hunny bunny, thats so sweet. were back. Israels military knows it is preparing for a long, hard slog. Listen to a top Israeli Defense forces official speaking to Israeli Forces earlier today. Translator this will not be short. Even if we have to expand the campaign if another enemy gets involved, well know how to handle it. Joining us now is former Deputy Director of national intelligence. Lets start with what he just said, if somebody else gets involved, hes talking about hezbollah, i imagine. Right. Today they just moved up some troops and regular troops and some reservists up to the border, bracing for what will happen. As of last night, with the ramifications of this hospital strike, you know, with all of the demonstrations, theres quite a bit of pressure on hezbollah to do something, right . All the arab leaders are feel thing pressure, even though i sense that they dont want to eas escalate necessarily, they may feel they have to. So the next few days of course, friday prayers is always the day we look at. What happens after friday prayers, are they going to react . So far it seems its measured and proportional, and hopefully, you know, israelis are trying to keep it that way. You didnt say even though it looks like based on the best u. S. Intelligence, theres no definitive assertion but based on what is asserted by the israelis and americans, it looks like it was a palestinian misfired rocket, but that doesnt seem to matter to the arab world. I think the latest Nse Statement does make it clear that it wasnt, and there is probably u. S. Intelligence in addition to the Israeli Intelligence that would back that up. But you dont see the palestinians and the jordanians and the egyptians or congressman talib, none of them say oh, our bad . No. Perception is reality, and were in a position here where, you know, you are fighting against decades of an understanding of the situation that is completely different than our own. That, you know, is about israeli culpability. And so every arab leader and every palestinian supporter, and every arab street is going to buffet everything the same way. This information, misinformation feeds on perceptions. Thats the most effective kind, when you are building up and building on these notions. Jonathan swift said Falsehood Flies and the truth comes limping after it. Right before joe biden took off to jordan and the Palestinian Authority canceled their trip, the summit was supposed to be there in egypt, those country also never acknowledge it, but does it just give them an out so that they dont have to play any sort of role . You know the skepticism we both expressed about how much abbas, sisi, king abdullah, anyone of them want to play in helping the palestinians have a thriving democracy on the banks of the mediterranean when hamas is gone, if hamas is gone. Yes. You know, the statement coming out of the organization of Islamic Council today, which is 57 islamic countries ranging from Indonesia To Syria and iran and hosted, of course, where its located in saudi arabia, came out incredibly accusational about the United States, blamed israel for the attack. Which attack . On the hospital. And, you know, and said that basically said without saying the word United States that we were giving israel impunity. But at the same time, you know underneath this that all of these countries rely on the United States, on the United States presence. We are still the only country in the region that can provide security to this region, and theyre all terrified of iran. So, you know, i think they have to Say Something. But they dont want us to go away. Okay. Beth sannor, good seeing you as always. You might remember that horrifying video of that young woman on a Motorcycle Pleading for help as she was being kidnapped by the terrorists of hamas. Im going to talk to her family, next. The power goes out and we still have wifi to do our homework. And thats a good thing . Great in my book who are you . No power . No problem. Introducing stormready wifi. Now you can stay reliably connected through Power Outages with unlimited cellular data and up to 4 hours of battery backup to keep you online. Only from xfinity. Home of the xfinity 10g network. Knoah was simply attending Music Festival when hamas unleashed its Terror Attack and turned the festival into a casc disaster. And shortly thereafter, the world saw noah in this video, pleading for help as she is kidnapped by the terrorists of hamas. Her boyfriend was also kidnapped. Joining us now is noas father and her best friend. Last week, noa would have celebrated her 26th birthday with friends and family. Instead, her family had dinner and Birthday Cake with two empty chairs, one for noa, one for her boyfriend. Both are still missing after hamas attacked. How are you and the rest of the family doing . Umm, its very difficult. I think most of us and the rest of the family still cant believe this is our reality. Umm, each day is getting harder and harder. But we are trying to stay strong and do everything we can to bring her back. If you can, how is he holding in there . [ speaking in a nonenglish language ] he also says its very difficult. Each day he realizes its happening. [ speaking in a nonenglish language ] he still cant believe this is the situation. Its very hard. Has the military or the Israeli Government provided any information on her condition to you or to the family . Can you ask him . Actually, no, nothing. Nothing. Since that video, we dont know how is she. Wow. What do you want people to know about noa . I want people to know that noa is a very ambitious girl. Shes very caring. Her mother suffered from cancer, and noa really took care of her and the rest of the family. Shes an only child. But she also loved life, like i hope every young person, she liked to party, to travel. She had been to so many places. And also she was she is very intelligent. And yeah, she got into so many people hearts and she has so many friends that are caring about her so much right now. And this situation is unbearable for so many people. Could you ask him what goes through his mind when he sees that horrible video of her being taken . [ speaking nonenglish ] hes saying he was in shock. He couldnt believe this was happening. His only child. The child he took care of. Tried to protect with everything he has. He just saw her taken away from him to gaza. And he cant believe this is true. [ speaking nonenglish ] hes saying it is the only child and as i said, her mother is suffering from cancer. And no one at the present really gave life to the house. And now its absent. Last question. If he could deliver a message to the people who took his beloved noa from him, what would he say to them . [ speaking nonenglish ] [ speaking nonenglish ] i heard that word a lot. What else did he say . Basically hes begging with all their heart. He Still Believes they have a heart and hes begging for peace. He said there was enough killing, enough murdering, and he truly believes that if hell talk, then then the peace will come without fighting. [ speaking nonenglish ] what did he say . Two nations, one father. Same father. Beautiful words. Yeah. I hope they hear them. Thanks to both of you. I hope noa comes back soon. Thank you. Tough story. Well be right back. Thanks for watching the lead. Our coverage
