Achievement award. Well so proud of you, wolf. Erin Burnett Outfront starts now. Outfront next, rejected. The judge overseeing trumps federal 2020 election case refusing to recuse herself while the former president lashes out at another that he committed fraud. Plus, russia now claiming the attack on its Black Sea Fleet was carried out using american intelligence. The kremlin also releezing a video of a top commander. And stores in philadelphia shutter after widespread looting and now Target Closing even more stores because of crime. Lets go outfront. Good evening, denied. A judge rejects trumps request to recuse herself. Tanya chutkan says she will hear the doj Election Fraud case in washington, d. C. It is a blow to trump and comes as he is lashing out at another judges ruling in new york. Even posting the judges picture on social media and posting i have a deranged, trump hating judge, adding quote, nobody has been as unhinged as this guy. Maralago is worth perhaps 1 o 0,000 time more. The judge didnt pretend to value anything. It was based on estimates he had been given by professionals. When it comes to the case of maralago, he had valued it at about 27 million. Trump says its worth 100 times more which would put it at about 1. 7 billion. Heres the thing. Trumps supporter, the author, tried to bolster trumps claim on maralago today. He used zillow and he came up with a value, sorry hes the one that came up with value. Trumps value was 2. 7. 1 billion less than trump claims. Thats a person trying to defend trumps claim. Lets take a close look at another one of those properties. 40 Wall Street. One of the most treasured jewels in trumps crown. That property is central to the new York Attorney generals case against him. It is a building that trump loves to tout. Just listen to him on 9 11. Just be clear. This is on 9 11, 2001. Moments after the World Trade Center buildings collapsed, heres donald trump. 40 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in Downtown Manhattan and it was before the World Trade Center was the tallest then when they built the World Trade Center, it became known as the second tallest and now its the tallest. Just think about that for a second. If you were alive on that day. Thats what he said on 9 11. All those people died, hes talking about his building is now the tallest . And he wasnt even right. According to the washington post, this building, 70 pine, was still taller. If you care about that specific fact. But thats the reality of trump. His m. O. Say it even if its not true. If you say it long enough, hard enough, often enough, people will start to believe it. And you know what, hes been right about that. It has worked for trump in astonishing ways, to be honest. And when it comes to 40 wall, it wasnt just how tall it was. It was what it was worth. At the heart of this case. In 2015, capital one determined the property was worth 257 mil million. Thats a lot of money. But two months later, a Real Estate Broker valued the property at a suspiciously large increase. 540 million. Then trump turned around and filed documents suggesting it was worth 735 million. Thats almost a half A Billion Dollar difference. Say it enough and theyll believe you . Trump told forbes magazine, which has been tracking trumps wa wealth for decades, its good for financing, getting those loans. Then trump went on in that same interview with forbes in 2015 to say this about his prized profession. Its going to throw off if you say 50 million. 64 million net at least. Dont forget, i bought it for peanuts then spent money on it. By the way, you know what the mortgage is . 2. 5 . Throwing around a lot of numbers there but according to forbes, the numbers dont add up. He reportedly made close to a Million Dollars that year. Not 50 million or 64 and the Interest Rate wasnt 2. 5 . It was 3. 7 . But these lies about his wealth are core to why he even won the white house. He was elected in no small part because he told the American People and they believed him, that he was a successful business man and his whole premise was hes going to run the United States like he ran his businesses. Nobodys ever been more successful than me. Im the most successful person ever to run. Im much richer than almost anybody. Im really rich. Ive made a fortune and i want to put that same thinking for the country. Outfront now, dan alexander, author of how donald trump turned the presidency into a business. Dan, you and i have spoken back when we were doing a domrcumenty about the trump family businesses. You have analyzed so much of this stuff over the years. When you saw this judges ruling that ive got here, what did you think . Were you shocked by the amount of times trump has lied about 40 Wall Street specifically . If i were coming in this fresh having not spent several years looking at trumps finance and his lies about his net worth, sure, id be shocked. After looking at it for a long time, every asset, every detail about every asset, you have to scrub and scrutinize because odds are, its going to contain a lie. Add all of that up and it tells a story of a guy whos lied about his net worth for years and years. Unfortunately for him, prosecutors not only have the documents that he sent to banks where he was stating that he was richer than he was, but more importantly, they have the documents showing the math of how he got to those numbers and those are the key documents where you can see sort of the fan tas cal twists and turns he was pulling to make himself look richer than he is. Its those documents that make this case so strong because you cant run away from bad math. No, you cant. The whole point was that it was persistent and consistent in terms of the lies over decades as laid out. You obtained the document and the recording of trump talking about 40 Wall Street, which i just played there. And as we pointed out here with your fact check, the Interest Rate was wrong, the mortgage, all of it was not true as he claimed it to be. But the whole point is 40 Wall Street the just one of Many Properties that he vastly overvalued. Thats right. You know, Donald Trumps fortune is comprised of roughly 30 to 40 different assets and if you go down to list, its easier to find ones where theres fraud than to find ones where theres not. There are some that look relatively clean. But by and large, if youre looking at a number, you can assume its been twisted or turned in one way or another. Pretty shocking. 30 to 40 properties. More than where theres fraud than not. You noted in the 1982 inaugural edition of the forbes 400 where you list the 400 richest people, trump appeared alongside his father. Net worth of 200 million. Oh, you guys are wrong. Its half a billion. Im sure a lot of people you call, they dont want to take your call and hes the guy saying let me show you more than youre saying, right . This has been going on a very long time. From your own experience. Yeah. Over 40 years that forbes has been looking at trumps finances and theres no number that we could ever say that he would say, oh, you got it right. Its always more, more, more. Thats not just true of when were looking at his finances. More importantly, these documents show its true when banks or insurers are looking at his finances. Its not a crime to lie to the media, but it is to Financial Institutions who are handing you hundreds of millions of tdollar. Thank you very much, dan. As i said, the Senior Editor and author at forbes and author of white house inc. Lets go to ty cobb now. Former white house lawyer. Its pretty incredible when you lay this out and you hear it. I know its a different venue than the one in which you would have dealt with trump. Its all a lie. Its all false. So what did you make of this ruling in the new york case . I think the ruling is significant. I mean, its a very high bar to get Summary Judgment when you have this much at stake. But trump had no defenses. And as the judge pointed out, his opinion is very detailed. Very judicious. Littered with citations, appropriate citations and criticism of the Defense Arguments and highlighting the overwhelming evidence against him. But he basically points out that trump relentlessly as you have highlighted, puts forth claims that simply are not true. That have no foundation. That cannot be supported by the facts. Now, ill give this judge credit because in footnote nine for those of us who found this document, he essentially characterizes trumps approach to this defense and the way its presented as saying as chico marx says to gloria in duck soup. Who are you going to believe . Me or your own eyes . And you point out the footnote. You know, i have to say in all of this one of the things just to take that moment on 9 11 that your comment on that day would have been my building is now the tallest. I dont know. For some reason, there are still things that can break through all this and give one pause. How is 9 11 about trump . Thats just, its just repulsive. And so sad. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives. Yeah. And hes talking about his building. And lying about how big it is. Yeah. Ty, so one of the things that some of the new York Attorneys were saying is that it was highly unprecedented in this judges ruling to sanction trumps lawyers. Five of them were sanctioned in the case and ordered by the judge to pay 7,500 apiece. Its not the amount. Its the fact it happened. It just doesnt happen. One of those attorneys is also representing trump in the federal documents case and yet amidst all this, trump adds two new lawyers to his legal team today. Are you at all surprised when he continues to add new lawyers when so many have gotten in trouble for working for him . Eastman, giuliani, chesebro, right . Its true. I think the significance of the sanctions is it highlights yet again you know, the extent to which trump, you know, pushes his lawyers out there in a way that forces them to lose their own credibility. And you know, for a judge to sanction a lawyer is not an easy act. It doesnt happen that often. And this just highlights again the frivolousness of most of trumps positions. Just as judge chutkans order today highlights the frivolousness of his efforts to recuse her. And let me ask you about that ruling. He wanted the judge, judge chutkan, right, to be removed. Shes overseeing the 2020 Election Subversion Case by the doj in washington. She denied that request to recuse herself as was her right to do. Trump had pointed to statements that she made in a case involving another january 6th defendant. In which she alluded to trump. Saying, she said that the rioters were there in fealty and loyalty to one man. Not the constitution. She added its a Blind Loyalty to one person who by the way remains free to this day. He said that implied bias that was his argument. Was her decision today the right move or does this open the door for trump down the road . No, this wasnt even a close call. And in fact, the law is so clear that you cannot recuse a judge for information that comes to him or her while they are on the bench. As she highlighted in her ruling, trumps lawyers again, and sadly, took those comments way out of context, suggesting they were her thoughts when in fact, she was merely responding to a defendants argument at sentencing. Which is perfectly lawful. There was never a basis to recuse her. I think you will see other attempts by trump to attack the judge and get rid of her. I think the whole argument over the gag order is designed to ultimately try to provoke an opportunity to mandamus her and get rid of her that way. That will also fail. I appreciate your time tonight. Thank you. My pleasure. Nice to be with you. Next, the battle for blue collar workers. Trump is about to speak to auto workers in michigan hoping to win their support. Can he . Plus, questioning russias commitment. Now video shows some residents in crimea now doubting putins pledge to protect them. And American Soldier Travis King is now back in u. S. Custody. Korea sent him back. How that Dramatic Exchange went down. Tonight, trump trying to Cap P Tallize on the strike. Coming a day after President Biden became the first president to cross a picket line in support of uaw workers. It comes at the same time as the republican president ial debate at the reagan library. No coincidence there. Outfront now, john avalon thanks to all of you. So, congressman, traditionally, at least you know in the way we would think about things, democrats, the union, but 22point edge among Union Workers in 2020. 31 in 1992. Its been a precipitous drop. Mccomb county where trump is tonight, blue collar. He won in 2016. Those are sizable. That election was decided. So is there an opening for trump . There is. Look, i was a republican member of congress. I was endorsed by many unions in my district, which you know, its kind of unique in illinois how they do it a little bit but i think there is a real gang of republicans in Donald Trumps case among the Working Class and its not because of a union issue. Its not because of prevailing wage. Its not because of project labor agreement, all these issues. Its because culturally, the democrats are not speaking to the Working Class right now. When you talk about a border issue and the democrats are fairly silent on it, they are, lets be honest. That bothers somebody. Whether they are part of a union or not. When you talk about the issue of guns, actually one of the biggest issues brought up to me when i would meet with the unions in illinois, were guns. I think the issue is union voters are not single issue voters. Its very complex and the democrats are losing that narrative. And to that point, the ap spoke to somebody that President Biden was with yesterday. 38 years of age at gm. He said he disagrees with democrats securing the border but also social issues, abortion. How big of a problem is this for democrats . Yeah, i do think its a problem and i think democrats have to kind of see the blinking or flashing lights, the check engine lights. Not sure if its because of these social issues. Definitely not about abortion. Democrats are going to ride that issue of abortion to some success in the next election but it has to do with something larger than that. Its not as granular. I think its more of a 50,000 foot view which adam was kind of getting at. Its about Meeting Voters where they are. Theres this perception that democrats live in glass houses. That we only cater to some lib Liberal Elite. There are in democrats who dont ascribe to that notion. Now, there is one person in this country who is able to feverishly rebut that. His name is joe biden. Hes from scranton. Hes joe. Hes uncle joe. So he will actually do well getting outside of d. C. And meeting people where they are. Let me just also real quick, donald trump has pulled off the biggest con in american political history. Somebody who uses the Bathroom Toilet to make people believe he works for them . Im sure they were gilded golden toilets. Painted. To your point though, trump has this is what he told neil. Im paying them too much. Im paying some guys much more than i should be paying. Its the same thing with the unions. They get their little 5 . Another 2 . Another 3 . 4 . Then all of a sudden, theyre making more money than the people that own the company. Okay, i just, because i got to do this. Wanted to just do some math. Okay, hourly wage for the uaw members at gm, ford, 32. 32. 67,000 a year. For 40hour week. You can get into oh, they want a 30hour week. Fine. Look at this. Lets look at the ceos. 21 million for ford. 29 million for general motors. I dont know whats going, 24. 8 at stelantis. To write a Childrens Book . That was a necessary reality check. Not only that trump was saying that kind of stuff, which was nonsense. That average workers raises are going to come anywhere near. In 1965, the average ceo made 30 times. Donald trumps showing contempt for that kind of gap. But where he has been able to connect as i think adam was saying and acknowledging is this Cultural Divide that republicans havent been able to ride since the really dawn of the culture war. Go back to the late 1960s, early 70s, theres an iconic moment in Lower Manhattan where the hard hat workers got in a fistfight with the Anti Vietnam War protestors. That sort of shows that gap. Theres a shot from that rally. Thats grown over time. Theres this culture war disconnect. You could say its a distraction from the Economic Issues and it is, but its powerful. Very persuasive. Bidens challenge isnt only that hes got a record on this, hes also got to point to the Fact Manufacturing jobs are increasing under his watch. Its not going to erase the Cultural Reentesentment that a of these folks feel. Hes there tonight giving his speech at the moment. Stealing the thunder in every way he possibly can. This is like a photo op. Bacari acknowledged that joe biden can authentically speak to White Working Class voters who have been disenfranchised by the Liberal Elite, coastal Liberal Elite perhaps. If only he had been getting out and using the bully pulpit of the presidency more frequently. As far as i can tell, this is the first time hes gone anywhere and done a victory lap about his record. He wants to park it, point to the infrastructure bill. He wants to point to his policy successes and how hes helping the Working Class, man, he should have been out a lot sooner. Trump is of course, you know, skipping the primary, passing go without collecting 200 and going straight to follow him. The campaign is happening in michigan tonight. This side show in california is like its like earth 2. 0. Like what we wish was happening. The side show is in california. I mean, its incredible. Its a side show because nobodys going to take on the actual frontrunner whos going with the republican nomination. Theyre going the sit here and try to audition for a cabinet position, for the vice president. Its jv basketball. Either you want to show up on thursdays and watch jv play or friday nights and watch who are going to be the nominees. Donald trump versus joe biden. Theres also one other thing and margarets point is valid. A lot of times in our political lexicon, we do this here at cnn. They do it on other networks. When we say Working Class voters, a lot of times, people just think white folk. But in places like detroit, philadelphia, there are a lot of black Working Class people and you know who theyre not voting for . Donald trump. And just also where this matters, Union Household participation is much higher in michigan, wisconsin, pennsylvania. The swing states where the election will be decided. The one thing that republicans could go after trump is the fact that hes utterly abandoned conservative principles when it comes the trade and teariffs. Hes the most protectionist president the republic has put forward. To increase tariffs by 10 , folks are solid about. Were in a country where a lot of people like that stuff. Hes more Bernie Sanders, donald trump on labor is more Bernie Sanders than he is reagan. Which is how he lands michigan. Thats good tv. All right. Thank you very much. Next, russia releasing another video of the Russian Black Sea fleet commander. Is this really a Proof Of Life video or actually old footage of the commander . Plus, target is shutting down stores in major liberal cities because of crime. Are democrats doing enough when it comes to Public Safety . Tonight, new video of fierce gunfight in ukraine. The russians returning fire. Ukraine saying russia has lau launched at least 130 attacks in the last 24 hours. It comes as the commander ukraine was killed in that massive strike surfaces in yet another russian video. Maybe alive and well. Fred is outfront. Nearly a week after ukraine claimed to have killed the commander of russias Black Sea Fleet, now another sign he may very well be alive after all. Russian military tv showing the admirable handing out medals to a Navy Soccer Team although cnn is unable to verify when the video was filmed. The Awards Ceremony had to be postponed for known reasons, a reporter asked. No, its postponed just because we were busy and had to push it back a few day, he answers. Asked to reassure local residents after the missile strike, the admiral in denial. Nothing happened, he says. Life goes on. The new clip comes just a day after the russians released a video apparently showing soak love attending a Conference Call with the Russian Defense minister seemingly propped up by a pillow. Russia still irate about the strike, a spokeswoman claiming western involvement in the attack. There is not the slightest doubt the attack was preplanned using western intelligence assets, nato equipment, Reconnaissance Aircraft and was carried out at the instigation and in close coordination with the american and British Intelligence services. Meanwhile, some residents in occupied crimea are questioning how committed russia is to their safety after this video emerged purporting to show mostly women and children prevented from entering a bomb shelter during an air raid alert a few days ago. Why did you kick us out, a woman asks. Ive been told this shuelter is for employees only. All kids, all people kicked out into the streets, she says. Moscow trying to portray strength in the aftermath of a black sea attack. The Prime Minister filmed visiting a Missile Factory that is allegedly increasing its output, but even videos released by the Russian Military like this Paratrooper Unit Show Moscow Forces struggling to hold the line as kyiv says its forces are the ones that have the momentum. And erin, that last footage is actually pretty remarkable because it shows the russians on their side acknowledging theyre struggling. Thats the Southern Front where Cr Ukrainians are conducting their main push. The going is still tough for them but they say in that part of the front line, they have a considerable amount going for them. Fred, thank you very much from Eastern Ukraine tonight. As this plays out on the battlefield, u. S. Aid for ukraine is being held hostage by far right lawmakers in washington. There are now less than four days until a potential government shoutdown. The senate has a bipartisan bill on the table that would give about 6 billion of aid to ukraine. Members of the caucus are saying this. I believe that the United States position should be for peace in ukraine. Not continuing to fund and provide weapons that are killing people every day. Before we send blank checks to some other country, we need to take care of our people. Enough is enough. Im putting my country men first. And i dont think we should send another nickel to ukraine. Its worthwhile with all of this gaining some steam in Public Perception to be clear on some facts. First and foremost, a vast majority of this money is going to American Companies and jobs. Those are the people making the tanks, ammo and everything else. Take Lockheed Martin which makes the high mars. The Company Announced its going to increase its workforce in camden, arkansas by 20 just because of this new demand. That moneys going to america. And there are no blank checks. Every dollar is authorized by congress for a specific purpose and of the money approved so far, all together, all of it is less than onehalf of 1 of americas gdp. Outfront now, the republican governor of New Hampshire. Governor, what is your message to republicans some of whom we just heard there, who may not only force a shutdown over this, but are trying to block aid to ukraine . Well, i think one of the frustrations as a republican is you have these extremists who have what i think is a bunch of faux outrage over fiscal discipline. If they really cared about fiscal discipline, they wouldnt be backing someone like donald trump who has the worst fiscal record of any president in history. Theyre really just trying to block things. You have the senate who passed a bill. Thats great. You have mccarthy whos trying to get something done. It would be great if the president were back in washington trying to negotiate with both groups. I dont like that the president keeping the government open isnt his responsibility either. All three of these Leadership Groups have to get together and find a path forward. Ukraine is a broader piece of this. I dont think we should send another nickel to ukraine. Putting my countrymen first. The gop used to be, governor, the party that was viewed to be the strongest on National Defense and security and today though, you have Marnjorie Taylr Greene putting forth an amendment that would cut the defense secretarys salary to 1. These arent people like bill gates who get to come in and be the defense secretary. These are career military civil servants. Of course, senator tuberville is continuing his months long hold on more than 300 military promotions because hes upset about the Abortion Policy at the p pentagon. Whats going on here in your party . Lets be clear. Marjorie Taylor Greene and do not define the republican party. Thats one of the biggest frustrations i have. That is not our party. Thats a very extreme version of our party. They dont do anything. Wheres the gates marjorie Taylor Greene bill that actually did anything to help america . It doesnt exist. Youre talking about ten to 15 individuals in congress. Not the republican party. But if they force a shutdown, if they prevent a budget, stop aid to ukraine, they are defining the party. No, theyre defining themselves and theyre defining congress inability to get anything done which is what the greatest frustration of all of us have. That none of them seem to be able to move the ball forward. Theyre more defined about what they dont do than what they do do. They claim outrage in all this and get to raise money. It doesnt help the American People or ukraine. Of course you have to support ukraine. We have to win that war. You need all these pieces in the package and if you do that, everybody gets a little something. And you get to keep the government going forward. But you need all the parties involved including President Biden. So, governor, let me ask you because you know, tonight, the former president speaking at the exact same time as the rest of the republican potential nominees are in a debate. And congressman kenzinger, the debate is the side show. Trump is so far ahead that he could be the nominee. Thats not changed from the very beginning. But you are very vocal, governor. You have been passionate that you believe that the gop president ial race is still wide open. Still wide open. Of course. What makes you believe that . Because the field is narrowing down as it should be. Trump is below 40 in states like New Hampshire where the conversation is happening. True. Most folks havent even decided who theyre voting for. O onethird of Trump Supporters say they would consider voting for someone else. As ive always said, you get it to oneonone before super tuesday, doesnt have to be in iowa, New Hampshire, but before super tuesday, its not about the popular vote guys. Its the electoral vote ultimately that is going to decide you know the general election. And when those states come down to oneonone in the primaries and you have all the delegates in these winner take all states, theres a huge opportunity for the other candidate, which would have political momentum. Which would have all this money coming off the sidelines, a lot of energy. With a candidate like trump whose ceiling is about 45 . Thats actually terrible. Terrible. I guess if you consider him as an incumbent, it is terrible. Non incumbent, its pretty damn good. Hes wellknown to your point to state the obvious. Governor, thanks. Always a pleasure. Thank you. Be good. Next, a potential biden challenger. Im going to speak to a democratic congressman who is pressing for another democrat to run against biden. Originally told me it wasnt be him. Plus, stores shut in philadelphia after widespread looting. Target now Closing Stores in major cities. Whats going on . Hows the chicken . The prawns are delicious. Oh, i have a shellfish allergy. One prawn. Very good. Did i say Chicken Wrong . Tired of people not listening to what you want . Its truffle season ah thats okay. Never enough truffles. How much are they . Its a lot. Oh okay im good, that its like a priceless piece of art. Enjoy. Or when they sell you what they want . Yeah. The more we understand you, the better we can help you. Thats what u. S. Bank is for. Huge relief. Yeah. Tonight, every Single Liquor Store in philadelphia is closed because of mass loot ng The City Last Night targeted more than a dozen liquor stores. These are the looters. Stealing merchandise, vandalizing Stores Across the city. It comes as target announces its closing nine stores in major cities because of theft. Veronica miracle is outfront. Another smash and grab. This time in philadelphia. Three stores hit last night. At least 50 people arrested. They were not part of an earlier police protest, officials say. Retail crime is again front and center as major brands close stores. Theyre locking up the tooth paste. The latest Target Closing, nine stores citing theft and organized retail crime threatening the safety of our team and guests and hurting business. As this San Francisco target soon to close, even general merchandise is behind glass. Regulars say theyve seen the crime firsthand. You live across the street. Tell me what you see on a daily bases happening at this target . At least once, twice a day, i will see the Homeless Come in here. They steal stuff. Take off running. Majority of them get caught. But there is quite a few that do get away. This target joins two others in oakland closing on october 21st along with three in portland, oregon, two in seattle, washington and another in new york city. We take officers and put them in a garage or out here. The nypd says target was paying for increased patrols at the east harlem stores but thefts continued. Target is just the latest to take drastic action. Starbucks closed 16 stores last year citing safety concerns. We spotted Grocery Stores in San Francisco locking up coffee. Another cable locked frozen foods. In the 30 minutes cnn spent at this San Francisco walgreens in july, we saw three people including this man, steal. Did that guy pay . Did that guy pay . New data says 28 of retailers reported Closing Stores due to crime. 112 billion in losses last year is an 18 billion jump over the year before. For nordstrom in los angeles To Lululemon Near Atlanta and now an apple store in philadelphia. Dozens of high Profile Smash and grabs have Business Owners calling for tougher laws. I want everybody to know this will not be our last protest. This week, oakland Small Businesses went on strike, closing their doors for hours, standing in front of a shuttered restaurant, they demanded Public Official Doss more. This restaurant surrounding oakland and the riots, this restaurant survived the pandemic but this restaurant cant survive crime. Erin, there was a line of cars this morning to get into this target here in San Francisco. People were being turned away. It turns out this store and the one in new york, theyve abruptly changed their hours. Theyre opening later now so already communities feeling an impact. These stores are not officially supposed to close until october 21st. Thank you very much. Of course as you know, somebody who spends time in new york city, you go into a target, you cant even buy the stuff you want because its all locked up and youve got to find someone to help you get it. Cant even by laundry detergent. Dean phillips of minnesota, target is headquartered in his state. You know this all too well. Its an Important Company in your state. Ill play the video again of the stores being looted in philadelphia just last night. And every liquor store in that city is closed tonight because of looting. Theres moments where you say gosh, i cannot believe this is happening here in this country. And in fact, it is happening in big democratic cities across the United States where youre seeing some of these big stores like target pull out. New york city, San Francisco, portland, pittsburgh, seattle. These are big democratic cities. Pittsburgh, the margin of victory for democrats there was 70 . Are these cities failing their residents when it comes to Public Safety . Well, let me start with target. A Wonderful Corporation that employs hundreds of thousands. Does so compassionately. Generous with the communities with which they do business and theyve lost A Billion Dollars in the last year to theft, Companies Like lowes. Its untenable. Do cities have a responsibility to do right . Darn right. Im tired of having this conversation and seeing these videos. We have a lack of consequences. And i think this is where democrats and republicans have to put away the nonsense like youre seeing right now in the u. S. Capitol and get to work. Resource our police departments, ensure consequences are legitimate, and also invest in communities so we have juvenile Diversion Programs so these young kids see other paths to prosperity and opportunity. This is not unsolvable. But once we politicize it and people say a democratic city or a republican governor, thats not the problem. Its an american problem. And yes, we have a big one, and we better get to it fast. Youre putting out practical words and recently speaking to the independent mayor of eagle pass, texas. His frustration is there is no consequences. You used that word, consequences, that seem to be lacking. And theyre lacking where you are as well. Were three days away from a deadline to fund the government. Here we are, no deal in sight. No consequences to those on capitol hill at least. Consequences for this country, though. Do you think a shutdown at this point is inevitable . S yeah, we need a juvenile Diversion Program here in congress because we have kids acting without consequence. And were about to face a circumstances, erin, where members of the military wont be getting paid, children will be going hungry, and we will erode the american brand around the world. We lack a mechanism in the u. S. House where twothirds to threequarters of the house is ready to vote right now to get us through this nonsense and fund the government and do better. And just a handful are holding us hostage, and one man the sad truth is, Speaker Mccarthy is the one person standing in the way of resolving this whole issue. And it saddens me. And weve got to get to work and redo the house rules package and ensure that Government Works for people the same way we need it in our cities to be safe and secure, no matter your zip code, we need it in the u. S. Congress right now. Im getting embarrassed and frustrated, and im angry. And everybody thats watching that shares that point of view, weve got to unify. Its time, and ive had enough. Youve been very outspoken. You say, its time, youve had enough. I think you do share the sentiment of the vast majority of americans. And youve been outspoken about the upcoming election as well and about President Biden. You did support him for his first term. I know you dont support him running again. I know you said you think someone else needs to run. You said it wouldnt be you, but i heard you interestingly on a podcast with steve schmidt, where you seemed to change your mind about that. Let me play the clip. Yeah, i am thinking about it. I havent ruled it out.
