Because from the chinese perspective, they believe that the North Koreans need to feel that they have a reason to join the International Community. And that their security is not being threatened from beijings perspective, every time the u. S. The longer broader viewpoint is will the United States put political or economic pressure on china severe economic pressure on china to get a political result regarding north korea. Is that something you expect or not i think it will come slowly i dont believe it will be as harsh as the rhetoric that the white house is suggesting to try to rectify the situation will it help i dont think it will help nonetheless i think thats the next stage of this, where you will start to see heightened political rhetoric that is something that will be modestly disruptive. But again nothing that will really change anything you mentioned china. If it were to issue larger sanctions against north korea, north korea sees china as the biggest trading partner, what would the Market Reaction be. I dont think the market would have a grade reaction to china applying pressure to north korea because trade and global trade with north korea is very little the broaderplicatiomplicatio. The broader implicatiomplicau would see a political resolution that would come off the table. I do believe the mar et ckets ol have factored that in. Lets talk about the political situation state side lets talk about the fact were seeing the president have talks with the democrats and what that means for the possibility of tax reform does it annoy the republicans or force them into action its interesting. Hes going to need the republicans in order to get any deal done. I dont believe hes going to be able to get that through so when they at end of the day, we dont think 2017 you get a real tax cut nor an Infrastructure Spending bill passed in 2018 you will get one done, but it will be diluted it will be watered down. It wont have as great of an impulse into the u. S. Economy as everyone hopes that is base the off the fact that the deficit, fiscal hawks, the deficit spending is i dont think they have the intestinal fortitude to allow that to blow out that much just getgeting into the price action, energy, are you getting into the sector. Mixed picture this morning, but essentially plat joining us is john silvia from Wells Fargo Securities good morning good morning. Lets jump into the data what did you make of yesterdays reads and what that means for the fed policy it reinforces the feds policy to move with the federal funds rate in december i think theyll go ahead with the balance sheeted a justment that sheet adjustment. This is giving them enough evidence to say we have enough evidence on inflation, we can get past the hurricanes and move in december. Does that mean the dollar is due a bounce its up a percent or so against the yen in the last couple of hours. The trick with the dollar is so much depends on the ecb perceptions, what the bank of japans perceptions, and the bank of englands at this point. Bank of england came out with interesting statements on inflation. So it represents a leveling off of the dollar weakness we are seeing this global Monetary Policy tightening sense. The bank of canada raised rates, bank of england suggested a rate rise could be coming do you think the fed is feeling the pressure to join the party join the party in the sense that trying to keep global Interest Rates in a path or at least at a level that everyone is consistent. Its difficult for some of these Central Banks now to get out of line with partners across the globe. Youre right it will put pressure on them, more likely to raise rates than leave rates alone. To your point, inflation, breaking a streak of five consecutive monthly declines but at the same time the jobs data was disappointing we know the august employment numbers are very tricky because of the seasonal adjustment factors. That may have played a role there. My sense is that the job numbers do recover in the next month or two. They will probably revise august up a bit it will reinforce a december move. We had a big move in yields, 2. 05 we touched ten days ago back above 2. 2 on the tenyear. What is your expectation for the rate curve we expect the fed to move in december thats our forecast. We expect the longterm Interest Rates are up another 10, 20 basis points so a continued slowing in the pace of longterm Interest Rates rising relative to the fed so a flattening in the yield curve. Lets have a commenton growth around the rest of the world. You are still encouraged that can continue or have the likes of europe enjoyed their cyclical catch up to the u. S. Were happy that the Global Economy has improved as much as it has clearly the euro area and canada have been very strong relative to expectations. China has not disappointed on the down side. It has been fairly decent. The u. S. Now has kicked up a bit in the second half of this year. So we think that Global Outlook is pretty positive john, thank you very much for joining us thank you nice note to end things on.
