There is an inextricable connection between our food intake and climate change. In order to mitigate the effects of the latter, we need to understand how simple nutritional habits can be altered to make the world a cleaner place to live in. Climate change is affected by, and subsequently affects, the entire food system, and hence our nutrition. Kunal Mutha, Founder, Only Earth, says, “Our seemingly simple food habits have a considerable impact on a large number of things. The creation of food that we consume impacts everything from greenhouse gas emissions, the output of methane in the atmosphere, use of pesticides, global deforestation and excessive use of water. All of these together create the most unsuitable circumstances for the planet, eventually leading to unsavoury climate change.”
