Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence (right) in what is believed to the Rolls that is the subject of this investigation, in Damascus in October 1918. The car was bought new by a man who perished on the Titanic and eventually found its way to Cairo, where Lawrence commandeered it to use as a support vehicle for his armoured car force.
