Today I bring you an all Canadian cast of music that makes me tick... stuff I like... every one of these songs and or performers I put high on my list. I want to share with you all now that after a great deal of pondering, and with some amount of hesitation, I have decided I need more time to get back to writing music, and other things in my life that I have unwittingly been neglecting. So, I have decided to cut back quite a bit on my contribution to CKCU. I’ve been with the station for about 25 years, on air for much of that, and serving on the Board of Directors for a combined length of at least 10 years. Next month, August 19 to be precise, will be my last Saturday Morning Show. I will however be on air occasionally, as a part of the Back 40 collective with Ron Moores and Al Surmachinski (once every second month) and also occasionally filling in on some program or another as my time permits. I’ll say more about this on my August Broadcast of the Saturday Morning Show. - my last one. But I do want to say thank you to all you faithful listeners. I will miss bringing you my 3 hours of music picks every month… I’d love to say hi in person, and you can make that happen by dropping in to Brigid’s Well tonight where I’ll be playing with Roland Doucet and Bruce Baker from 7:30, or again on Aug 5 and Aug 19. You can also catch me at Bluegrass Mondays at Red Bird live not necessarily performing, but together with my daughter Kate, and partner Robert, hosting the evening. With both my bluegrass bands, Maple Hill and The Monroe Sisters I’ll be in Renfrew on Sunday aug 6 for an afternoon of bluegrass, or with the Monroe Sisters at the South Grenville Bluegrass Festival in Spencerville Aug 10-13, and with Maple Hill at the Merrickville Fair on Aug 13. Whew. Yep. Pretty busy. I hope to see you along the way. oh and looking ahead to January, I’ll have my country band the Vinyl Frontier back at Red Bird Live. I hope you enjoy this playlist of wonderful Canadian performers. Next month I will again bring you many favourites, and I apologize that I won't likely fit everyone in... but I'll try. :)
