City to mull establishing Reinvestment Zone 12
During Tuesday's virtual regular session, the Amarillo City Council is expected to conduct a public hearing and first reading of an ordinance in consideration of designating certain areas of the city as Reinvestment Zone 12 for commercial and industrial tax abatement.
Per the meeting agenda, Amarillo Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Kevin Carter is slated to make the presentation before the city council. The Agenda Caption indicates the proposed Reinvestment Zone 12 is approximately 110.39 acres in the vicinity of NE 24th Street and Loop 335.
In November 2020, the city council adopted an ordinance designating just under five acres of land in the vicinity of Amarillo Boulevard and Point West Parkway as Reinvestment Zone 11 - created for commercial and industrial tax abatement to provide the city council the option to offer an economic development incentive.
