An Evanston Now reader noticed some unusual attachments on a row of Maple trees in the parkway on Orrington Avenue this afternoon.
We asked Public Works Director Dave Stoneback about it, and he says it appears somebody decided to tap a row of maple trees in the parkway in hopes of producing maple syrup.
Stoneback says the city’s not OK with residents trying to get the sweet stuff from city-owned trees, and workers will remove the taps and buckets tomorrow.
