Crime scene tape is still on the ground marking the scene where two young girls were struck by a vehicle. Seven-year-old Sharesse Lattimore died."Me and my cousin came outside, seen two girls laying in the street, one all the way up there by the cemetery and one in front of my house," said Malachi Glover who lives on Vine Street.Glover said he heard a loud bang and came outside to see what happened. "Then the little girl that was in the street, she was screaming for her mama," said Glover.Neighbors said several witnesses ran to help the children, including at least one who gave CPR to Lattimore. Lattimore was taken to Children's Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.Council member and mayoral candidate David Mann lives nearby. He said he's familiar with the high traffic and speeding in that area. He put out a call to action for traffic changes."Maybe the speed limit needs to be lowered, maybe it needs to be enforced, maybe we need to adjust the curves," said Mann. A motion was presented to city council Tuesday. It'll be referred to a committee, then city administrators will have to conduct a study, review and report with recommendations."We lost a child yesterday, and anytime that happens, if there's steps that we can take to make sure that we never don't have recurrence, we should do that," said Mann. Mann said results from the motion could take about 30 days.A family member of Lattimore confirmed this tragedy is another hard blow for the family of Sharesse Lattimore. She is a cousin, of Nylo Lattimore, the 3-year-old boy prosecutors say was killed by his mother's boyfriend.
