The City of Calgary has renewed its local state of emergency in an effort to better position itself to help provincial authorities distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to Calgarians, Mayor Naheed Nenshi announced Tuesday.
The decision extends the city’s local state of emergency, which was declared Nov. 25, for another 90 days. It is the second time since the pandemic began that the city took that step, having previously done so in March 2020.
