City Council raises concerns about Shelter Solano, but backs CDBG action plan
FAIRFIELD — A divided City Council on Tuesday approved the 2021-22 Community Development Block Grant annual Action Plan, which included an amendment for $151,332 in federal CARES Act funds for operations of the Ohio Street Transitional Housing for homeless individuals at high risk for Covid-19.
The vote was 5-2 with Councilwomen Pam Bertani and Catherine Moy dissenting.
The city is slated to receive $834,203 with the maximum of $143,317 designated for allocations in the Public Service category.
There were concerns about the public outreach seeking comment on the plan.
Bertani also raised concerns about how much funding was being allocated to Shelter Inc., which runs Shelter Solano on Beck Avenue, which she said is “underperforming.”
