LISBON — Local municipalities throughout the county are expected to see additional $9.4 million through the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan signed into law on March 12.
These funds are in addition to the nearly $20 million Columbiana County commissioners are expected to receive.
The money listed is according to estimates from the House Committee on Oversight, provided by the National League of Cities. Both Salem and East Liverpool are estimated to receive more than $2 million each.
According to the National League of Cities, small cities and villages throughout the U.S., defined as those will less than 50,000 in population, are to split 30 percent of the $65.1 billion allocated toward cities and non-county entities. So the overall amount of the pot of money local municipalities will be drawing their funds from is $19.53 billion.
