We are about a month away from the arrival of the 17-year cicadas. There is always a bit of excitement – but also a lot of unnecessary fear – during this phenomenon of nature.
The emergence of the cicadas should begin around the middle of May. In a recent article in this paper, Dr. Gene Kritsky, a leading cicada expert and entomologist from the College of Mount St. Joseph University, said that Cincinnati typically sees emergence after two days of temperatures in the low 80s and a "soaking rain."
