A BOY was left with a black eye during an attempted robbery outside a shopping centre.
The 15-year-old was confronted outside Churchill Square in Brighton at 3.15pm on December 5.
Police believe as many as seven youths attacked him, but they did not manage to steal anything.
Officers have appealed for witnesses and say it was a busy Saturday shopping afternoon.
In a statement Sussex Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery which occurred in Churchill Square Shopping Centre in Western Road, Brighton, on Saturday, December 5.
“A 15-year-old boy was attacked by a group of seven young people. Although they did not steal anything, the boy was left with a black eye and bruising.
