Members of the Department of Streets and Parks work to clear snow from downtown before an expected 1.5 to 2 inches of rain on Thursday.
City residents and others in the region need to monitor the weather today as a hard-driving rain is expected to arrive this afternoon and continue through Christmas Eve before stopping on Christmas morning, a forecaster said.
“You should monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings,” said Steve Travis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop, he said.
