When leadership at Christ’s College became aware of inappropriate sexual behaviour by a teacher towards a group of boys, the matter was not reported to police and students were asked not to discuss it.
The elite Christchurch boys school has now admitted the situation should have been handled “quite differently”.

College spokesman and board of governors chair Hugh Lindo confirmed Lindsay William Hutchinson was employed as a music teacher at the school for 18 months from 1985 to 1987. Lindo said Hutchinson used “unqualified references” from Cathedral Grammar School and the Anglican Diocese in Perth to get the job.
