American barbecue and smokehouse Smoke & Barrel is putting its own untraditional twist on poon choi, with its special Chinese New Year set, which includes smoked 12-hour brisket, Japanese pork belly, Texas baby back ribs, homemade sausage, smoked chicken marinated shitake mushroom, braised small cabbage and mustard greens and pickled winter turnip. The dish is followed up by a dessert of Hong Kong milk tea custard and smoked bourbon, goji berry and Chinese mandarin.
The restaurant will also be serving a special whole smoked and roasted goose for the occasion, complete with its own blend of secret spices and glazed with sorghum molasses and hong kong honey (48-hours pre-ordering required).
