Chinese FM spokesperson questions U.S. biological labs globally

BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday that it is hoped the United States could give the international community "an honest, transparent, and responsible explanation" for questions concerning its biological laboratories worldwide.
Hua Chunying made the remarks at a press briefing when asked to comment on an "obtained" document describing SARS-coronaviruses as heralding a "new era of genetic weapons."
According to a report by The Weekend Australian, the U.S. State Department has obtained a document written by Chinese scientists and officials as it investigated the origins of COVID-19. The document states that SARS-coronaviruses is a "new era of genetic weapons" that could be "artificially manipulated into an emerging human disease virus, then weaponized and unleashed in a way never seen before."
