China will draw a “line of separation” at the top of Everest to prevent coronavirus infections from mountaineers ascending the Nepalese side of the mountain, Chinese state media announced Monday.
Although the borders are practically closed since March 2020,
Beijing intends to extend its surveillance to the snowy top of the world, that it shares with Nepal, at 8,848 meters above sea level
A team of Tibetan mountain guides will place the
line at the top before mountaineers try to summit from the Chinese side, said the state news agency
