Chaves County reports 69 COVID-19 cases, no deaths Monday

Chaves County reported no deaths related to COVID-19 on Monday but saw six deaths in Sunday’s report from the New Mexico Department of Health.
Monday was the first day a vaccine for COVID-19 was administered in New Mexico. A post on Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s Facebook page said the first to receive the vaccine were health care workers at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe and that doses are being distributed to additional hospitals.
An update on the vaccine’s distribution will be given at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Dr. Tracie Collins, secretary-designate of the Department of Health. The conference will be livestreamed on the NMDOH Facebook page.
