COVID-19 wastewater surveillance programs are used in many regions for pandemic management, said a news release from the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit.
Increases in COVID-19 sewage markers can serve as an early warning sign of increased community transmission, said the release. Wastewater analysis trends can be used to inform public health mitigation efforts, such as targeted testing and enhanced infection control advice.
