Locals in Charles Dickens' childhood home raise over £13K for Christmas lights after Scrooge council pulled the plug to save £75,000 amid 'challenging financial situation'

The Rochester City Centre Forum launched the fundraiser  - which has raised more than £13,000 - days after Medway Council in Kent announced it would be axing funding for displays.
