Within CEMS, the analyser should be protected from contamination due to condensed liquid and particulates as they can block flow passages and components, obscure optical sensors and lenses and ultimately cause widespread corrosion. The sample gas is often filtered and conditioned to remove these components whilst maintaining the integrity of its gaseous composition. The waste liquid removal system should be well sealed to prevent air ingress and have excellent chemical and abrasive resistance.
Longer peristaltic pumps can effectively seal the tubing without the need for valves, even when the pump is inactive. This sealing capability is applicable to gas, liquid or multi-phase fluids.
