While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has eased its recommendations about when fully vaccinated people should wear masks, Marion County residents should not toss out their face coverings — at least not yet.
The CDC released new guidelines saying fully vaccinated people can be maskless in many indoor spaces as well as outdoors. When contacted by IndyStar, though, Marion County health officials reiterated that the mask mandate remains in effect at this time.
The Marion County Public Health Department will review the guidance along with local COVID-19 case and vaccination rates and make a recommendation to the City-County Council, said Dr. Virginia A. Caine, department director and chief medical officer.
